Contact support if you type it into a browser and it shows up as listed in someone elses account or use the 3rd nameserver instead. If its not allready on DAN it should show up right away.

when I call it up its parked on GoDaddy. You have to change the name servers to

ns1.dan.com
ns2.dan.com

I did try to use 3rd nameserver, but Godaddy mentions that "Server not available", and yes, Dan shows that someone already listing that domain name, I did contact "[email protected]" but still no reply yet

You put each server on a separate line (after you delete go daddy servers). There should be something like chose customer servers (in a drop down menu) which is what you should chose. After your done entering DAN servers, you hit save, clear all your cookies wait a few minutes and check again.

Glad you got it listed at Dan. It seems to have been there with 2k price. That 1235 at afternic is your price?

The kickass.name is just a comment, not a domain.
Your name is a kick ass domain, this will easily be resolved

When I added some domains to my Dan.com account I realized how many orphaned listings they have in their system.

The lower I went in price, the more failures I had as duplicates already existed. I have owned many of the domains for over a decade so I don't really have any idea why they were already listed in their system.

They did remove them in a timely manner when I contacted support, but it is still frustrating to have such a high failure rate.

Att: @DAN.COM

I can confirm that the Godaddy DNS settings recently won't accept the third DAN verification nameserver (*.ns3.dan.hosting) and produce the error as mentioned by @Jamor.

As a workaround, the (more cumbersome) DAN TXT verification has to be used.

You can use the alternative DAN verification method, via TXT record. You can find your personalized TXT record on this page: https://dan.com/users/settings/ownership.

You may enter this TXT record using the default Godaddy nameservers (*.domaincontrol.com). Then try to add the domain again in the DAN dashboard. It may take a couple of hours to a day for DNS to propagate, so be patient. Keep trying, and eventually you will succeed.

(Protip: if you want to speed up the process a bit, you can flush your local DNS cache(s), then visit your domain. Or you can use another Internet connection (e.g. mobile, using different nameservers) and visit your domain. This way, you can trigger DAN to check the new TXT record sooner. Then add the domain at DAN.)

@Jamor After verification was successful and your domain is visible in the DAN Portfolio, you have to change nameservers once again, to ns1.dan.com and ns2.dan.com. Maybe this is your current issue. That's the final step to make it work.

Orphaned?

@Jamor

Your TXT record is set correctly, using Godaddy's nameservers.

SeattleCupcake.com. 3600 IN TXT "dan-ownership-verification=g61k38zl"

Now try adding your domain to DAN, until it shows in your portfolio. If so, finally change nameservers to ns1.dan.com and ns2.dan.com. And you're done.

Orphaned?

It is just a term referring to a listing that is still there, even though the current domain owner did not list it.

Every venue has at least some from Afternic, Dan.com, SEDO and others. Some venues use some type of verification or system to remove them automatically.

Often someone lists a domain, then sells or drops it, and the listing still remains.

With Dan.com though, I am not sure what the issue is. I was getting almost a 50% failure rate on some of my groups of listings. I am not sure why they were in the system, as I have owned many of them for years and years.

I have also bought several domains from Dan.com that were old listings, or listings from people who did not actually own the domains. I have had several purchases canceled and refunded because of this.

Overall, I like Dan.com but I think these venues need to figure out a better way when it comes to inventory.

A large-scale frontrunner(s) campaigns (organized groups and a bunch of individuals) targeting registrants and investors has been detected @ DAN, Sedo & Afternic-GD. The domain may be locked for transfer for 60 days but frontrunners already made account (some of under a different email address) for each registrar - counting on push transfer.

This is interesting. It makes sense.

It was largely my priced domains that had conflicts. The lower the price, the more conflicts culminating with around a 50% duplicate rate on the lowest ones.

The unpriced domains had a very low failure rate.

Dan.com (and others) need to do something about this practice. People are listing domains via their system that they don't own, nor have any rights to offer for sale.

(I am going to post this response in that thread as well).
