It's nothing
They turned off my heat
And I'm just a little
Weak on my feet
Would you light my candle?
Sure, for $390,000....

Candle.com sold for that amount today on Afternic. It's a strong generic in a good-sized market (surely an end-user sale.) The whois shows IBM, who purchased Candle, a software company, in February of 2005, so they are likely the seller. while PetsUnited (dog.com, etc.) seems to be the buyer...Smokin'!

Note: The sale showed up this morning on Afternic, but has since been taken down (perhaps at the request of the buyer...)

How did you know that? I didn't see it in recent sales section. Can you post up the link?

Was posted as the first 12/21 sale this morning, but looks to have been removed (perhaps at the request of the buyer?)

Maybe we should all start grabbing screnshots or better still, save as a PDF (this would be better, as keeps the URL in the footer)?

Looks like the same people who bought dog.com and house.com

WOW. That is a great generic name, and what a solid sale. However i would have thought it would go for a wee bit more.

I sold my candleholder.org for $15 :tri: That's really a big difference.

It's funny. IBM has dropped domains in the past that went for low 5 figures at the drops ;)

Exactly, i wanted to put this on NameNexus but there is not much info to add there, except a simple text: Candle.com sold on Afternic.com for $350.00 , we cannot give you more info about this sale.

Blah.

Such is the nature of private domain transactions. We do know, however, that the buyer is likely Pets Unlimited -- the same folks who bought Dog.com, Bird.com, TikiTorches.com (one of NameAdmin's few sales), etc.
