I recently bought a domain from a godaddy auction, but there's already an auction by the previous owner.

Has this happened to anyone before? and how do we cancel that auction?

Yes.

It happened to me.

I bought a BIN domain (expiring domain), which was also listed for $xxx (Public auction)--both at Godaddy. I got it for the BIN price.

My rep explained it this way:

The previous owner listed the domain on Sedo's premium platform in a partnership with Godaddy, so Godaddy software cannot automatically remove these auctions because they're listed at Sedo. To get the old listing removed, you have to call the auction section of Godaddy, and they'll remove the old listing manually.

It has gotten quite messy with GoDaddy's partnership with SedoMLS.

I too have encountered this.

Serves as a reminder that anyone listing their domains these days will especially have to pay more attention to removing their existing listings at other auction platforms after a sale

Otherwise if it sells, you might be forced to pay a commission for a domain you don't even have anymore.
