I have another noob question: can you build backlinks and use SEO to rank your domains in Google search? Or to drive more traffic to your domains?

I've read the TOS for ParkingCrew, which is where all of my domains are parked, and it doesn't really give a clear answer that I've found. Just want to make sure I won't be doing anything "illegal".

For most parking companies, they don't allow you to add backlinks after you have parked your domains. Bodis do allow you to do that. You would need to clarify with ParkingCrew. Best to add the backlinks before you park the domain.

Using SEO on parked domains is useless. Google don't rank well parked domains. The only thing that really matters for parked domains is the keyword used, and even that 99% of the time is controlled by Google. Usually it works best to just let the parking company optimize your domains, unless you see something wrong with the keywords they use. Only then try to change the keyword. But google might still ignore your keyword (but not always). So it's worth a try. But if you try to use high paying keywords on a non-relevant domain, the domain is likely to get banned, or worse you account might be suspended.

yes, backlinks can be build for domains, more people like your website, the more valuable it is. Digg is great for traffic generation, and while not the powerhouse it once was, is still a large community. Plus, you can submit articles you want to promote, and links to those articles are followed by search engines.

I can't see why not.
You build the backlinks to the domain and the crawlers index them.
Then they are considered towards the domain rank, even if the domain is parked. The search engine algorithm does not check if the domain is active or not.
