Recently I've hand-registered a domain name containing term "skechers" in it.
When I was buying it I thought it was a generic name meaning a type of sports shoes. I was so impressed by the search volume of this keyword-rich domain that I was in such a hurry to snap it before someone else does it that I did not spend any time to dig deeper about this name.
Once it was mine, I did a little research and to my horror found out that Skechers is the name of the company, so there's no doubt they have a trademark for this name.
So my question is - can "skechers" be considered a generic name meaning a type of shoes just like "netbook" is considered a term meaning a type of computers though being a trademark held by Psion?
Because of the TM issues I'm not going to approach anyone to buy it, but is there any way to benefit from it without getting into trouble -what if I promote their shoes thru an affiliate store ?
