Hello I recently did a domain name whois.net on a big time corporation, a fortune 500 company. What a found was this company have a Online Trademark Protection. Here the info that I found.

Domain Management
Online Trademark Protection
Online Channel Protection
AntiPhishing Solutions

Keep in mind that this domain name is a generic term. Can you have a online trademark protection for a generic term?

Hard to tell really without knowing what the generic term/word is but if they are showing they have an online trademark protection and being a fortune 500 as well then they have probably gone through the proper channels to make that happen.

You need to get familiar with the differences between trademark (yes you can trademark common terms/words) and copyright

How can you have a online trademark protection for a generic domain name? For example, cars.com how is this possible? They have the plural .com name with the online trademark protection, I have the singular .com name. I want to sell it to a enduser that why Im concerned. I almost forgot I have the same name .net with the online trademark protection.

Can someone attempt re-stating this question. I have no idea what this person is asking, and I am mystified that anyone considers the question to be answerable.

My question is can you have an Online Trademark Protection for a generic domain name? For example, cars.com, Realestate.com, studentloans.com, flight.com. etc........

Define what you mean by:

"Online Trademark Protection"

•••
Domain Management
Online Trademark Protection
Online Channel Protection
AntiPhishing Solutions

That list sounds like service offerings. If so then it sounds to me like the "Online Trademark Protection" is them looking for TM offenders for you and possibly also creating legal action as well.

I believe the domain you're looking at is registered with Markmonitor. They are a registrar that caters to large corporate customers, and they also provide "brand protection" services to companies that have the domains for their websites registered with them.

Many corporate giants keep their domains with Markmonitor, including Google.com (do a WHOIS and you will see - Registrar: MarkMonitor Inc.

They mention the services like that you mentioned you found on the domain you were looking up, including "Online Trademark Protection" and "Online Channel Protection"
