Can someone assess my portfolio and tell me if I'm on the right track? I started 1 month ago.

Hi everyone. I've learned a lot this month. My first ever purchase was with godaddy and I purchased a 3 year plan and a bunch of useless ad-ons that total to about $100 for 1 single domain. Safe to say I've learned from this mistake. I now hand regged a list of domains that focuses on the tech industry and the future and hope that I can hold these as investments for the future. If someone can help I'd greatly appreciate it to look at my list (I can pm, I don't want to put them all here). Thanks!

What was your thought process when registering these names?

i figured since the ai sector is exploding in value, i'd find some gems that haven't been discovered yet or will have value in the future. i'll put why next to each one below:

bci short for brain computer interface - common acronym in the neuro tech bci industry which is gaining a lot of traction, especially since elon musk's neuralink is becoming more and more noticed

bciwave - seems short and marketable, ushering in a new wave of bci products
bcicortex - since bci is connected to the brain, cortex made sense as a suffix (wouldve prefered prefix but it was already taken

genaiclass - classes to learn generative ai (wouldve preferred the plural or "courses" but already taken
techbci - from my research tech is a hot buzzword , since bci is related to tech it would be of value
bcisupport - support for your bci product
ainumerals - idk what i was thinking with this one, i just thought since ai was in it, itd have some value
buybci - saw buyai sold for $600 in 2019 and it's estimated to be way more than that right now
aiLWMs - aiLLMs was already taken, I was thinking if ai improves and they start using LWMs (a common word in the ai space) that this could find some value
PureGenAI - i really think this has potential. I like it a lot. short for Pure Generative AI. And it rolls off the tongue easily, although i admit it is longer than PureAI, but PureAI was already taken.

Idk, am I thinking about this the right way?

"Gems that haven't been discovered yet" basically don't exist.

Thousands of us are looking at lists and checking names every day.

It's a pure lottery ticket and the odds are stacked against you.

e.g. I don't see a single example of a name starting with "BCI" (in the context you're talking about) sell... ever.

Maybe you're early? But again that's pure speculation. Many have gone bust holding names waiting for their early plays to land... and they very rarely do.

It *might* work out. But my thought is why play that speculation game when you can buy names that businesses are buying today, every day, and have been for 20+ years.

Thank you for this, I appreciate your forwardness and knowledge. I guess I still have a lot to learn. What kind of lists and names are you and others checking every day? I don't know what questions I should ask to learn more I guess. Do you think PureGenAI has any potential?

Puregen dot ai just redirects to your BIN priced dotcom, how exactly are you selling the former?

https://www.expireddomains.net -- everything there.

The same as any other slightly related keyword + GenAI... of which there have been 3 totals sales all at wholesale under $400 even though we're largely past the peak speculation for AI names.

Okay, probably an old redirection, your domain was dropped a few months ago.

If true, and the domain is not actually a pickle, then it's likely due to .AI domains being regged for minimum of 2 years where as .com minimum is one year... and the registrant redirecting the .ai to the .com before not renewing either.

This was short-lived (but explains the redirection, in addition to what @Grilled said):

Being new, I'd be hesitant to venture into the AI space since .com name with ai in the name competes against actual .ai names. Also, I wouldn't put all eggs in one basket (bci). Get names across multiple markets. Get names that are versatile. Look for local or regional gems. Plenty of good names available with .now extension which just opened last month. Personally I think in the long, run .now will supersede all but .com in the local and service spaces.

Hmm interesting, thanks for this, I'll be sure to utilize the wayback machine tool in the future. Seems like a handy tool to have.

Interesting, thank you for the knowledge! Do you have any examples of versatile names? I think I'm going to refrain from coming up with things on my own and use the site the other person sent, expireddomains . net

I still sell a lot of AI names, but as much as a year ago, but quite a few still. In the last 60 days I've sold:

AISexToy.com
HostedAI.com
AICodingAssistants.com
AISheet.com
AiEssays.com
AIorHuman.com
CodingWithAI.com

I didn't pay more than $20 for any of them.

Average price just under $4,100. But you are correct, you have to think about the .ai competition. Most of the above names didn't compete with a .ai counterpart. But even if you do have something like, let's say, SalesAI.com, it still can compete with Sales.ai if it's priced right. The .ai names are SUPER expensive, so you can still price a name like SalesAI.com in the $xx,xxx area and sell it, because Sales.ai would be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
