Yes, you can - i have seen tons of directories with Adsense incorporated into their pages.
Make some test pages and submit it to Adsense support for verification!

Then you know absolutely you're in the clear - they usually respond very promptly.

Yes you can put adsense on a directory as long as it is according to TOS of Adsense. Do not use false labels for ads or images and you'll be fine.
