I am an affiliate with Amazon. Can I click on one of my banners on my site and make a purchase legally?

I do remember reading this in their terms of agreement. I can't remember which way it said though!

You're not supposed to but I've done it with similar affiliate programs..[shh!]
It's like having a discount...works out quite nicely as long as you don't get caught LOL.

BY NO MEANS AM I ADMITTING ANYTHING OR TELLING/PROMOTING YOU TO DO THIS.

 I can't say that I've done any of that but I think that commen sense tells me that I would get in trouble with amazon.com...

From Amazon Associates FAQ:
What is Amazon's policy for Associates placing orders for themselves?

You may not purchase products during sessions initiated through your own Associates links and will not receive referral fees for such orders. This includes orders for customers, orders on behalf of customers, and orders for products to be used by you, your friends, your relatives, or your associates in any manner.

Last year while in the process of updating some Amazon links on my site I had found a few things I wanted and made a purchase. At the time I had received credit but a few months ago Amazon caught up with me and simply deducted those commissions from my current balance. I never received an email or was contacted about it at all. I am sure if I would have done it over and over again they probably would have closed my account...

hmmmm....

By day I work in a High school in the UK. I set up an Amazon aff. for their website. The librarian ordered a load of books for the school library - as far as I know, she didn't use the link. Amazon added the sale to our account anyway! Maybe that is a public sector/educational thing though? Maybe she did use the link and I can expect the commision to disappear soon!
