Can estibot affect the domain industry?

I just recently previewed estibot's new website (unreleased) and I have to say it looks great. I noticed that they changed the appraisal system to make it more accurate (and I would say the appraisals were...). Do you think this will decrease the amount of crappy domains registered through investors trying to make a quick buck? I believe this will have a huge affect on this forum... less crappy domains waiting for appraisal, maybe less appraisals all together. But do you think it will actually affect the overall domain industry?

1) The design of the new site is a complete ripoff of domaintools.com

2) From the ones I've tested in the new version, the appraisals are even worse. The domains I tested were already overvalued on the original site, and now the new site is appraising them at 5x as much.

Based on my own personal testing, this new version is only going to make people register MORE crappy domains, as they're going to have even higher unreasonable expectations about what the domain is worth.

The efficacy of the "in-network buyers" for names that trigger certain appraisal metrics will play an enormous role... and is very, very ballsy.

If they enlist an array of such buyers and a domain holder can effectively push a button to 'cash out' their name at that price (or something close to it), they've created something very important.

If the buyers are impotent or only willing to pay 1/10 the appraisal value on a consistent basis, it may debase their service.

Gutsy move, could turn out to be a big deal.

1) Anything is better than their old design... even if it is a rip off. It happens all the time (I'm a designer... they're ideas).
2) We must of tested 2 different appraisal systems because the one I used was a lot more accurate. Domains I have that normally appraise for xx,xxx were appraising for x,xxx.

Wow - it sure is D-:!

I only tested a couple of names - one was higher, the others were lower. I'll give it a better look later.

Yup, I guess we're using two different estibot betas then, because it gave higher values for all the domains I tried, and even the old values were too high. I even tried throwing some .org and .ca domains into the mix and the results were the same.

Try these and then tell me it's more accurate:

bloggingbeat.com
free-article.org
jokesters.ca
onlineshopper.org
scripted.ca

Hey guys,

I'm Luc, Esa's partner in EstiBot.com. I'm the one responsible for "ripping off" the domaintools / google design ;)

There are two new features introduced in this release which we think will have significant impact on the industry (over time):

1. End user lead generator, instead of flipping to other domainers, our tool will help you locate end users and also contact them with a high level of efficiency. All the info you could possibly need (emails, phone numbers, site, host, age, history) is provided for each lead. You can generate leads for any domain by clicking "Help me Sell This Domain" after you appraise it.

2. In-network buyers. This is a new and interesting approach to matching buyers and sellers and the EstiBot implementation is just the start. We will soon apply the match making system to drops, forums, auctions and much more. We are feeding in new buyers as well.

The appraisal algorithm has been changed for the better. It will take the industry some time to adjust. It's also never finished. Our algorithm is always changing to reflect the latest industry trends and YOUR feedback.

We're still in private beta, so things will break and may not look very presentable. Stick around, as we have a few new features in the works that will make your eyes pop.

Thanks!
Luc

Wow... when you said that I didn't actually look. My bad, but your right, that's crazy. They went a little too far.

I guess "End user lead generator" is not working, yet?
It's keep kicking me back to login page even when I am already logged in.

What browser are you using?

It works fine for me, but I know there are some serious IE issues with the site.

I use Firefox btw.

The best idea would be an offer to buy the appraised domains at half the appraisal price,
keep your end user customers private and sell the domains to the end users yourselves.
100% profit and retire as the richest domain speculators of all time in one year. :bingo:

I wonder if it has to do with the extension. I have mostly .coms. Maybe they are valuing other extensions higher now (if they are imo bad move but...) . Those are nice domains.

Anyone know if the in-network buyer thing is functioning or not?

I think it's working because one of my domain had $160 appraisal and showed
one in-network buyer available with $160 price.

When automated real estate valuation sites put the appraisers out of business, I'll say that Estibot can influence domain sales.

Estibot appraisals are, always have been and always will be a tool to fool around with for fun and one that only noobs take seriously (unless it's a low valuation, then Estibot must have made a mistake).
