I am looking to purchase an exact match keyword domain. My question is, someone has the .com and I am wondering if it is possible to either show up on the same page as the .com or kick the .com off the 1st page? Below are the facts..

abc.com facts:
- #1 in google, bing, yahoo
- domain registered in 1995
- PR 2

abc.org facts:
- domain registered in 2006
- domain is parked

There is no reason a .ORG can't rank as well or better than a .COM.

100 PERCENT agreed. You should buy it. I think .nets will take a beating with the new tlds being released since .web is almost like .net. However as I have mentioned before .org basically has no competition. BUY IT.

above poster is clueless. .net will not suffer ,and if it does so does .com and .org. .net can outrank .com with proper seo. .net, .com and .org are all capable of being top of search ranks.

I will talk to you when thousands of tlds will be hitting the market including .web Why an end user would go for .net when there are thousands of other extensions including most importantly .web which both (.net and .web) mean the same? THEN we 'll see who the clueless one is. It is not my issue that you have hundreds of .nets (perhaps that's why you are defending .nets so vehemently) and don't like to see .nets knocked off in their value.That is why I was telling him it was a good decision to buy .org after .com and I was happy for him to not even mention the .net

Sorry I say it as it is.

Every domainer defends the extensions they have registered AND I am not ONLY considering SEO. I am considering overall value of the extension including SEO. I don't have any beef with the SEO output of any extension. I am talking about the general value including SEO.. Would that be .co .mobi or .whatever. My two cents .nets will go down with the release of .web next year and I still say to the thread starter to buy the .org

So were you saying the same thing when .INFO, .BIZ, .XXX, .US, etc. were released?

The new TLD's will be completely worthless. End of story.

The extension doesn't matter if you have enough links to your site. ;)

Agreed, but changing visitor/user behavior is a totally different thing. Everyone is used to .COM and .NET. They have been engrained into society since the early 90's. It's going to take a huge marketing campaign and tons of successful sites on any new TLD for either of the orginal TLD's to lose any value whatsoever.

That's not to mention that they are releasing tons of new TLD's at the same general time. They will actually play against each other to the point where they are completely irrelevant.

.COM will always be king, and .NET will always be it's queen.

.web will be worth something but .net has been around since 1985 and is not going anywhere. You can't compare .net to .co or .mobi, one is the cctld of Colombia, the other was intended for mobile use. .net can only truly be compared with .org and .com, which will all be safe. .Web will destroy .ws which was marketed as .website but it wont affect .net.

I promise you all .web will surpass .net Mark this thread. I never compared .net to .co or .whatever I am comparing .net to .web. Why am I comparing them because the thread starter did not mention .net and he jumped straight to .org when .com was taken THEREFORE I was happy for him to not even mention .net since I believe .net's value would diminish by the release of .web.

then i promise you .web will surpass .com.

.net .org and .com are a trio, if one is affected all are affected. nothing more, nothing less.

.WEB seems about as legit as .MOBI in my opinion. How are they going to market that TLD? Are they going to say that all websites should be made with .WEB and all mobile sites with .MOBI?

It's all a complete sham! They are releasing additional TLD's because:

A: It's becoming harder and harder to land a great .COM name without paying thousands of dollars.

B: They will spend millions of dollars marketing the domain to make even more millions of dollars off of the suckers that buy into it.

Now, I'm not saying that NONE of them will be worth anything. Certain specific keywords will have some value, but nowhere NEAR the value of that same keyword in .NET!

Haha I first choose .com for your information. Then .org and .me.

I will never choose .net but based on your "nonsense" sig I see you 're a fan of .biz as in how"z" the bi"z" of .biz "pro"?

The OP's question was can org outrank com.
Simple question, simple answer.

There is no reason a .ORG can't rank as well or better than a .COM.

Brad

The debate going on here, the value of one ext over the other is a topic for some other thread.

Lets get this back on topic and address the question at hand, please.

Peace,
Cyberian

.org of course can outrank .com with good seo

I 'd like to also note that I m glad you are getting the .org

.web = .net

.web = .net

Please elaborate.

Based on your logic, these equations must also be true:

.CO = .COM
.COM.CO = .COM
.NET.CO = .NET

See? I can say random things too. I believe I'm done with this thread. If you guys want to waste your money on the new TLD's, be my guest.

A lot of extensions can outrank the .com with better content, .org too.

People tend to forget seo is a function of content, not the other way around.

The important question is if .org were #1 and the .com was #2 in google for the same search terms, which one would the user click and more importantly, which one would they transact at.
