Can 301 Redirects Improve Search results?

Well, I just learned something very interesting, while diagnosing a Google listing problem with my site: SexRobot.com. [/Adult link removed! -Staff™ ]. I was trying to figure out why my pages (except one of them) were not getting indexed on Google, even though I had a valid sitemap. So, I posted a question to the Google Sitemap Group. Apparently, if some people link to you with the "www" and some without it, you could be penalized for "duplicate content." I made the change to the htaccess file that the person in the thread suggested. I'll see what happens.

That's interesting that it's not talked about more, or automatically placed in some htaccess files.

I place it in mine but its less fancy than the above example.
