Hi All

I'm a webdeveloper and have been asked by a client to register all the major TLDs to protect their brand.

So a couple of questions:

1) What the best way to register them? One-by-one? Does someone offer a discount for bulk purchases like these.

2) Would these TLDs cover all the most important bases?
.com
.co.uk
.net
.org
.info
.biz
.com.au

Go for the .eu TLD as well.

Use this code if you are going to purchase via Godaddy gdh062630 and you will get a 15% discount on any order above $50.

Why not look into Trademark registrations? There are enough companies specialized in them and if your client is serious about this then this is a must do.
Regging the domains beforehand is of course the best choice but to reg all the extensions would not be.

I think with the extensions you mentioned you covered it all i guess. Hmm take the .de extension as well while your at it :hehe:

Depends if its a global company or not, they may have no need to protect their name in England or Australia, so this might be overkill.

.com .net .org .us .info .biz should suffice for a business that operates strictly in the US.

I think .com .net .org .info and .biz are the major TLDs they should register to protect their brand and also the ccTLD of the country from where they operate their business.

For the cost of a few $$$$s it would be worth also securing the names in all potential future markets. Even if you went for 20 extensions (if they were available) the outlay would be very small in comparison to the costs of trying to get it back at a later date, or through lost business from people who could not find the site, or worse, find a competitors'.
