Hi all,
I’ve been a domainer for quite a while and one thing that always stood out to me is how opaque most dropcatching platforms are. You place a backorder, it either works or it doesn’t, and that’s usually where the story ends.
Over the past months I’ve been building a dropcatching engine mainly for my own use, with a focus on understanding decisions rather than promising results. The system keeps detailed internal logs around things like why a domain was skipped, why it fired, provider timing, and near-misses.
It’s currently running as a small private alpha under the name DomainSniper. Still early, still evolving, and very much a work in progress.
This isn’t meant as a “we catch everything” solution, and it’s not intended to replace existing platforms. I’m mostly curious whether other domainers see value in more explainability and insight, or if the traditional fire-and-forget approach is still preferred.
Not selling anything here — just interested in hearing perspectives from people with experience in this space.
