Hey everyone,
I recently picked up Grokster.net — for those who remember, Grokster was one of the major names during the early P2P era alongside platforms like Napster and Audiogalaxy.
What caught my attention is not just the name itself, but the historical weight behind it. Even though the original project is long gone, the brand still carries a certain recognition among people who lived that era.
Lately I’ve been experimenting with nostalgic/legacy domains (music + social concepts), and I’ve seen how quickly attention can come back when positioned correctly.
There’s something interesting about reviving names that once had millions of users.
A few angles I was considering:
Music-based social platform (modern twist, similar to Threads/BeReal dynamics)
Community-driven platform around “what are you listening to”
Revival-style landing to generate curiosity and traffic
Or even just holding it as a brandable asset
I’m not saying it’s a guaranteed success — but I do think domains like this are more about execution + narrative than current recognition alone.
Curious to hear your honest thoughts:
Would you develop something on a domain like this?
Or do you see it purely as a flip?
Not actively pushing a sale, but I’d consider serious offers if someone sees a bigger vision here.
