Breaking: Google To Acquire Motorola Mobility For $12.5 Billion

Motorala is not strictly a cellphone company and I think getting rid of their mobile sector might benefit the entire motorola company. But the fact that Google might acquire their mobile holding is definitely something to keep in mind.

As a Motorola Xoom owner I'm pretty excited about the prospect of a completely Google device.

My only concern is that Google might start designing Android software for their own devices, with other manufacturer's devices being an afterthought. If that happens, Google/Motorola devices will better compete with Apple devices, but I think it will be negative for Android as a whole.

As I understand things though, from Google's end the purchase was more about acquiring Motorola Mobility's patents than anything else.
