would somebod please enlighten me why the "panda" makes a good name?
Because there have been recent sales with panda in the name. People follow trends. Otherwise panda is a "lovable animal", like monkey, so people tend to like these names as they make them "feel happy".

One important element of two-word domains is the pairing of the words. Using the example of Panda. Because a panda is perceived as a gentle cuddly animal SchoolPanda, GivePanda, HomePanda etc would be seen as good combinations while other combos like DesignPanda, FarmPanda could be rejected.

Keep in mind that BB has a very specific target audience. Rejections don't necessarily mean your domain is bad, it just means it's not right for their target market -- which is tech startups. These kinds of names tend to be trendy and quirky which is why it's sometimes hard to know what BB will except or not.

Likewise name evaluations are subjective and will vary from person to person. As time goes on we learn from our rejections and our acceptance rate gets higher.

I've sold several BB rejects on GD premium and Afternic for $200 to $1000. I've heard from other domainers that more than 50% of their BB rejects are accepted at other marketplaces like BrandRoot etc. So don't be discouraged there are many paths to success. :)

First reason for Sales
Second one the hype for Kung-fu Panda made this name more popular

Regarding wait times for review and listing............ When I started at BB in 2014/2015 it took almost two months to get a name published. Since then there have been many improvements and sometimes names can get published in as little as two weeks.

But......... wait times will vary depending on the number of submissions BB gets. In the last two months there have been several registrars temporarily offering reg fees of $1 and $2. This has caused an avalanche of BB submissions and BB staff is just keeping their heads above water. This log jam is temporary and should work it self out in the next month or two.

I know some are upset because publication takes too long but I've seen others get upset when a fellow domainer's submission gets published in a shorter time than theirs. Some like their logo, others don't. Some are ecstatic over recent sales, while others are tired of waiting. Some people are upset when their names are rejected while others are upset because BB accepts too many names.

I think BB has their work cut out for them trying to keep everyone happy :)

Good luck everyone! May all your sales be to end users!

These two names are the reason why we should be able to suggest our own categories and keywords. While the keyword and pronunciation are almost the same for these two names, suggested categories and keywords are miles apart.

Disclaimer: I own one of the two and the other is owned by a BB ambassador. Your guess is as good as mine regarding which one is owned by a BB ambassador.

It's very interesting that the ambassador has the much better keywords. Why is that? We all know that answer. Who in the world is going to type in the keywords complex, grids, lattice, mazes, mesh etc...

It just goes to show that the "Insiders" get to tweak their listings. No wonder they have a better sales rate then everyone else.

Keith nailed the answer.

But on the same note, I noticed there are "rabbit" names on BB. Which imo is not as good as panda. Though Bunny is the best in the cute animals category.

How long does it take to get paid, once a sale occurs and the domain transfer is finalized?

It shouldn't take longer than a week.

Either at the close of escrow or 5 days after the sale, whichever comes last.

hi, just a question if you sold a name and the buyer wants a different registrar but you have the 60day lock what happens then ? do they wait or would they accept the push at the same registrar ?

BB would take care of that transfer. You simply push it to BB account.

BrandBucket will inform the buyer about the situation, and then buyer can decide whether they want to wait for the 60 day period to end, or whether just want to open an account with the same registrar, and get the name immediately through a push.

Congrats, @PAINC. Happy for you.

I remember we had a little chat about this name the day you caught it. Hopefully it will sell quickly and you'll take home a big chunk of cash:-D.

I sent 10 names and 1 got accepted and 2 rejected. Even if I only get 1/10 I am happy.
I will update when all names have been reviewed.

Thanks again Finest, I always check your list but often too late. It's a gold mine.
