I accounted for 20 of those new add ons. Most of them were sitting in my account for several months pending fee. Let's see how they do :)

Domain: M/E/D/I/A/S/P/E/N/D/.com
Background: Picked it up ~3 months as a Pheenix backorder. Roommate is in digital media and I frequently hear him use that term (similar to the phrase "ad spend"), which references the budget a company has for their digital marketing campaigns.
Time Listed: ~1.5 months when sold
Porfolio Size: 32 domains
Selling Price: mid $2k
FWIW a name like that I would have listed privately at $7-10K. The type of buyer for a name like that has money to spend, and I think someone did very well picking it up for ~$2K. I can only imagine what it would have been priced at on DNS or via one of the bigger domainers.

I'll add that this name is far more generic than brandable, and I'm a little surprised that it was listed. It's a nice name for sure, but I think listing on BB meant leaving a lot of money on the table. I think it also highlights that generic pricing may not be BB's forte.

2 new sales to announce after a very barren August/September:

T*R*I*P*G*A*I*N
A*D*O*X*I*O

Both low $x,xxx, and that seems to be the theme for my recent sales - as the inventory level has increased sales prices look like they are contracting. Lower average sales prices are eating into ROI, and this fact when combined with lower sales overall is concerning.

Are there any metrics on how LLLL .com names are doing on BB? Anyone selling any?

I don't know. But I see a domain like QEMY.com selling for 1515. So at best if the seller gave only $100 to designer, he will net 960 on it.

In the current market, for a CVCy, 960 is not an amazing sale. Its not worth leaving that one on BB.

Same for DAYD .. he would net 2000 at best. A 4L starting with DAY is good. I would take it out of BB right away.

There are a few more 4L that could be taken out or at least repriced.

I would agree with that.

For those of you that HAVE sold a name (don't want theoreticals or guesses here), what do you find usually sells the most - listing it at the recommended BB price? higher (+20%)? lower (-20%)? Or does that not really have much impact in the sales from your experience??

Thanks!

My one and only sale had the slider maxed out to the right. Not much of a statistic, but there you go.

Hi svede,

Most of my sales had +5% to +10%, two sales +20% and just one not increased. From my experience I see that most of the names getting sold are priced from $1,5K to $1,995 or low $2K. It seems that this is the budget that most buyers have. I've sold brandable names priced $2K to $5K on BB, BR and Sedo, but they were all really good and/or aged, caught or won at drop auctions for $20 to $100 max.

Members with BB sales - do you amend the description given your listings by BB crew, after the submission review? I don't find it always good enough. Not sure if this matters a lot, however sometimes I feel like improving it.

I never asked to change any description; but I would like to have just a few of them changed/improved.

I do. Those listings always get kicked back in the publishing cue, even if you just change a word. Names can just sit there for days with logo and all, quite ready to be published.

Big frustration.

17 sales and I alter all my prices to fit certain parameters. Some down, but mostly up. I don't think that +/-20% will make any difference except in edge cases, or for much higher value names where 20% could equate to $x,xxx's.

Never. I have asked for some keywords to be changed once or twice, but only when it was really obvious that something had been overlooked.

Do they usually accept all of your changes, or not?

My stats:

Registered 23 weeks ago
36 domains added
13 accepted domains (36% success rate)
1 domain sold

Average review time: 25 days (from June it dropped to a week, was month+ before)
Average time to publish: 54 days (since August it is less than 2 weeks)

I usually put pre-approved discount to 5%, rarely 10%. Logo 100/200 usually, only 1 for 300. The domain I sold had $100 logo.

I sold 2 domains rejected by BB on Sedo for pretty much the same price if they were accepted (BB sometimes accept stupid names and reject good ones)
