I purchased around 20 published names in the last month.

But to be honest, finding names and receiving the "approved" email is a big part of the pleasure for me. I wonder how cool must be the feeling to get a sale email from BB ..ahah

I do all this mainly for fun and I have more fun submitting domains than buying already approved names.
I don't mind if it cost me a bit more. I feel I am selling names I like and found and not other peoples names.

But of course for a pure "money logic". I should buy already approved names.
I'm really not surprised by what you said. I think a big part of BB is the fun of having a name approved or sold that you went out and found yourself-the only real question is how much does that fun cost.

Wow.
Out of my 11 names listed on September 2nd, 2 are published and 5 are already pending publish.
Their Logo queue must be near empty to process domains so quickly.

Edit .. 2 more published now. One shy of 50 !! I should get it later tonight.

Edit .. Yeah !! 50 published. Let's drink to that.

It took them 15 years to find Whitey Bulger-I wonder how long it will take us to find Michael Krell?

Michael shouldn't be back to next week, I pmmed him and he told me he was going on vacation about a week and a half ago.

If someone did this, it would be mighty kind of them to share the statistics here.

I've been tracking their servers for a while now. This his how many domains that have sold that have been removed from their servers, note that some buyers leave their domains pointed at BB for a while (I suppose until they are ready to use it) so these figures are 100% accurate but not accurate to each month. I won't share which names sold but...

June - 40 names removed that sold - ?? Michaels, I wasn't tracking then.
July - 36 names removed that sold - 12 of them were Michaels.
August - 44 names removed that sold - 2 were on Michaels previous sales lists and Michael hasn't posted his August list yet.

I haven't included Margos as her whois is hidden and I can't be 100% sure the sales I think are hers, are actually hers. An average of 17 domains are being removed each day. This includes the sales above, people removing their names and drops. Several portfolios have been removed this month. On 15th August I noticed an entire 300+ portfolio get removed. These domains do not point to BB yet are still listed on BB, I'm sure they will disappear soon.

There has been one regular repeat buyer, he has found many of us direct recently...

I've also just sold another name, low x,xxx.

I've bought some of the drops, emailed BB and asked them to move them into my account which they've done. If anyone wants any, you just need to do the same, here are a few of the recent ones:

I would've dropped these too if I owned them.

I don't think these would have been accepted today. Do you? I incidentally regged a dropped BB accept too.

These drops get picked up regularly, I thought it would be good if someone here got the chance to get them.

A couple more if anyone wants them:

So if i'm reading this correctly and one was to"project" out the most amount of sales for the year would be (again approx.) 600 names TOPS or approx. 3% of the entire BrandBucket existing portfolio.

If that is all the sales, we're talking maybe a 3% annual rate.

Awesome work @JimJammy. The only issue I see is that Michael likely has a significantly higher sell rate than the rest of us, due to his exposure, reach, and connections in the industry. I think it would be really useful if we could determine the population of non-Michael domains (easy) and the sell rate of non-Michael domains (much harder).

That "non-Michael annual rate" would be more in lines with what us average sellers could expect.

I used to have "Staff picks" and see my domains in front page(s) for a while.
They have all been removed and are not longer staff picks.

Their new "staff picks" have 542 names now. I'd be curious to know who owns the majority of them.

My guess is someone here probably knows exactly who owns them-ask Michael Krell right here.

They still have the "staff picks" sort, but now they have a new section with only staff pick which seems to be kind of premium names. Well I think its new or recent, I don't remember seing that section before.

It seems that they renamed what was first Premium Names into Staff Pick.

I wouldn't buy those. Just fyi one or two of them were domains that I had that BB rejected.

Michael does have a higher sell rate BUT I genuinely don't believe that it has anything to do with his connections in the industry. I think that not only does Michael have an eye for the two word wonders he is selling but he has recognised that this could be a fad and has reinvested the majority of his sales cash as quickly as possible to grab the most out of what could be a short term opportunity. Personally, I'm not keen on two word wonders, but if I was, I would do the same and I hope he smashes it!!

To be clear, I'm not saying two word wonder brandables are a fad. I think dotcom will always be king unless the way the internet works changes, so almost any sensible dotcom picked up today will have a value in 10 years time. It's frightening to think how many $xx 3 letter domains I've turned down in the last 10/15 years because they weren't pronouncable... if only I could go back. That's basically how I see BB and brandables. I pick up domains that I think will be valuable in 10 years, not today, and if I can sell enough to cover the cost of the other renewals I'm happy.

Right now, my day-to-day money-to-be-made domaining is still the standard target by email contact, but my 'standard' is shrinking and my 'brandables' are growing because its where I believe domaining in the future will be most profitable.

I just sold a domain and the buyer will be using a different registrar Instead of godaddy. I bought the domain from the godaddy expired domains a couple weeks ago. The 'transfer lock' ends 10/31/15.

Do I have to wait till November? Anyone have experience with this issue?

Thanks

Yes you have to wait, but most of the time if you explain the situation they will choose just to just use the current registrar
