Under the domain settings, there's something about owning the facebook and twitter page. Is it better to register those if they aren't taken?

Myself-not sure about others-but I dont think you need them if a company really wants your name. Obviously get them if you can as stated here below. Good luck.

Absolutely get them if you can, over the last 18 months had two deals not complete because I did not have the Twitter match. These were not on BrandBucket but were 5L.com brandable names.

I've always thought this was a dubious feature. It's against Twitter and Facebook TOS to sell a username. Just hiding behind the veil of 'we're selling a domain name not a username' doesn't really cut it for me.

It's obviously an important component for a buyer to have the relevant social usernames, but I hope BB and other marketplaces are aware of these terms and have discussed with the right people. It could end poorly.

There is not a monetary component for the Twitter handle it is included for free. Just so long as it is not a straight sale the seller is ok.

I am curious about this... assuming it was only $1 million (they said "over"), that is $55,555 per month in revenue (based on the wording, I would assume this is the % given to the seller after commission and logo fees are taken out)... Going by the "sweet spot" of $2k per domain and $100 logo fee, that is $1300 per domain to the seller. Or in other words approx almost 43 domains per month. Of course, there are many larger priced domains and smaller domains so it could be wildly different, but it is very interesting... Or were there a bunch of 5/6 fig sales that threw this overall amount off? Does this overall # include BB's personal inventory of domains?

Food to chew on, anyway...

BB confirmed 1 million in sales for 2013 in December 2013. At that same day the site listed 61 pages x 60 names = 3660 domains. So that's 1 million in sales on 3660 names listed (with the majority of those names added that same year due to BB rise in popularity that year). So to use the same metrics on the BB today with almost 5 X as much listed names doens't make any sense. I'm pretty sure they're not doing 5 x as many sales as in 2013 simply because the quality of the names listed in 2013 was much higher overall than it is today but it is safe to assume they will do at least 2 to 3 time the revenue this year as they did in 2013.

The initial calculation was based on an email received from BB this week which stated...
BB Email said:
Did you know that BrandBucket has generated over 1 million in revenue for domain sellers like you in the past 18 months? Don't miss out on getting the best value for your names!

The copy of that email has been the same since the day they started sending these reminders out a couple of years ago.

I can see how including the Twitter handle for free might appear to circumvent the TOS, but it's rarely the 'circumventors' that win out in these types of cases.

Not saying I have anything against the practice, I would just be cautious unless Twitter has commented directly on the matter. Maybe they have.

The other thing you can do J is this, be online at the same time, and switch your handle freeing up the other. You want Goato.com and Twitter/Goato well I make sure you online at the same time, I change my Goato handle to example888. The Goato handle is free.

Twitter is well aware when businesses change hands the Twitter handle is included, they are fine with that, They don't want you saying I got Twitter/J $50,000 who wants to buy ?

Some say you simply sign up for a gmail address, example : [email protected] and register all the social media handles with this email. If you sell the domain, you simply provide the buyer with that gmail account credentials and he instantly has access to everything.

I've been lucky and never lost a sale because I never had a twitter handle. I had a day like a year ago where I though it may be important and registered them. After doing a few I just thought to myself there are much better ways to spend my time than saving twitter handles on the slight chance someone may want it.

I just this morning sold a name on Flippa that BrandBucket rejected-this isn't a knock on BB but rather to show that BB isn't the only stage for these names if they reject your good names.

HI and thank you-once it's funded id be happy to-it just sold this morning as I mentioned but to a very good buyer. It was a very good 2 word name. I think someone mentioned here that more 2 word names seem to be selling than "made up" names-maybe that's why this sold-im just not sure.

I got the newsletter - its the one aimed at buyers. GreatBuddies.com got GREAT positioning. Top row and in the middle (3 names per row)... well above the fold and the one you eyes focus on..

PM me your email and I can forward it to you if you would like.

Thanks,
Stephen
