Just wanted to give a quick update - I've halted submitting new domains as I can't submit until I finish the current queue... but currently deciding if I want to pay the $10/domain yet or not.
Current acceptance rate is now 27.1% (64 out of 236). As usual surprised by some that were rejected (like Hunteo dot com), but their loss, not mine. 48 published, 1 queued for publishing, 2 pending logos, and 13 waiting on me. Also, another rejected domain in agreement for sale ($x,xxx) that should be closing in the next couple days and another rejected domain being discussed with a seller.
While, I think I know what you are saying and to some degree think it is true, I think you are generalizing it far too much. If you are buying some of the low quality domains passed off as brandables on some of the marketplaces (even BB), then yes, I agree. But if you stay true to some core domaining principles such that you are buying a domain - even a brandable - that someone might type in or search for when trying to brand their company, then you can still sell them. This year for brandable sales I am up to 3 sales, 1 pending sale, and 1 in discussion - all pure brandables that were rejected from BB. In fact 3 of them were made up words of at least 6 letters, 1 was a 2 word brandable. When it comes to domains, I've sold them since 2003, but I don't do it as a full time professional. I am software engineer/developer that does this as a hobby on the side to complement my business and acquire development domains and sell unused domains. The point being is that if the domains aren't "random" brandables, I think it is very possible. In fact, brandables isn't really a new thing. I've seen them sold since I first started. It's just people tended to focus on only super high quality in the past and with the burst in startups has come a demand for more - even if lower quality at times - domains. Again, IMHO and experience, YMMV.
Hope this helps!
