I generally go for the lowest price logo, unless I think a domain needs a great logo to stand out & it would take lots of creative talent.

Some brand domains are so easy to create a logo for I almost do it myself, and some are impossible to be creative with - it comes down to just a color and font combo that suits the vibe of the name.

Are you doing some extra marketing for your names listed at BB? Twitter, Facebook, direct emails? Or you just wait for BB to do all the stuff?

It seems like Brand Bucket is trying whatever they can to increase sales. I think sales have dropped for them but only Margot knows that. Sites like Namerific, Brandroot and all the other small ones that have popped up are taking away many sales from BB. They changed their site to hopefully boost sales. They are going back through old unwanted inventory to see if they missed a gem. I have sold 4 on Namerific and only 1 on Brand Bucket. Brand Bucket's quality control has come down from a couple of years ago and I think it has affected sales.

Tomorrow will be exactly one year since this thread was started and a year ago everybody was talking brandable this and brandable that but in the past few months on this forum brandables have become cold. A year ago they had tons of names being offered to them but not anymore. They want to increase inventory but they don't have enough inventory being offered to them so they are going back through the rejects.

It's easy to keep your head above water when you can get 10 bucks a name and approve 20 or 30 a day to break even. It's simple math, approve 20 a day and you get $80,000 for the year to cover expenses. For all those that got into brandables a year ago and didn't sell any or very few are now 1 year later dropping those names and getting out of brandables because it didn't pan out. Brand Bucket should have taken care of the hand that feeds it which is us. Take 2 or 3 months to approve submissions, charge an ungodly commission of 30% and continue to blow people off and down goes the ship. The new brandable market will not have a 30% commission that's for sure. Things are going to change in this market.

If we use math,

As you said, if they accept 20 domains a day, that means they will have 20*365 day = 7300 domains!.... and they have right now only 3,192!

that have 2 probabilities:
1- they had sold half of the domains, which is great
2- they don't accept 20 domains a day

the main raising problem is the too long time reviewing domains....

for me right now, only have 1 domain published - 9 waiting logos

@Aalrashad

You will see that BrandBucket is going to increase their inventory in a big way. That means accepting names that they would have passed on in the past. Here is the comment below from PokaInc

"with BB I have 12 listed (1 sold in less than 4months). Just a couple of days ago, just got another about 45 names accepted! yes they're hand picked & catchy, but was still pleasantly surprised."

He had only 12 listed at BB and BAM they just accepted 45 more of his names. 45 NAMES!!! I am sure PokaInc will say that he is blown away that they accepted 45 names all in one shot. Thats Insane! BrandBucket has watched Namerific and BrandRoot take away many sales from them and are doing whatever they can do to sell names. If it is halfway decent it is being listed at BrandBucket. They have listed about 100 names in just the past 3 or 4 days. They will continue to take volume over quality. The bottom line is no one in the brandable market knows what the end user will choose so why not list whatever you think has a shot at selling.

I understood your point. But I didn't think they passed them, then back to accept them... he may submitted +100...

for me, I submitted around 25, in 3 weeks period .... they accepted 9 of them in one day!

I think they don't review the domains day by day, they just collect them, then in 3 days review all of them

I recently had another 8 domain names accepted after about 8 weeks; and I'm still waiting for logos for three of them.

I tried their vote for a name system; and was amused to find that one of the names was one of mine that they rejected.

They are listing more names now; but it also looks as if they're selling more too. (I hope some of them will be mine soon)

Regards

Ralph.

WARNING!

If you used Brandbucket's old IP number (216.70.89.117) to forward your domains, you need to log in to your registrar and change the IP to their new one (see their website)...

OR

Revert to your registrar's default IP for forwarding (Go Daddy's default IP for forwarding domains is 50.63.202.1). After you change your IP, you need to wait a bit (perhaps an hour) for the change to propagate. THEN, you need to forward your domain as thus: http://www.brandbucket.com/example ("example" being your domain without the .com)

Otherwise, your domains will continue forwarding to a Spanish language countdown site.

I never received an official notice regarding this change of IP, but I did get a warning that one of my domains no longer forwarded to their site. I checked my other sales names, and two more were forwarding to the Spanish countdown site. The one straight forward name was not affected.

Perhaps using the second method (a straight forward) might be a better option.

If you have a lot of domains there, you have your work cut out for you.

But better to know...

Thanks for the post. Our IP did change, but fortunately only about 1% of our names are forwarded using the IP method (which we recommend a last resort if for some reason your registrar doesn't allow forwarding AND doesn't provide you access to manage the DNS records.) We're tracking down the rest of the domains using IP forwarding and correcting them, but in the meantime if this is affecting anyone else...

The new IP address is: 54.215.8.65

Here's our help article on how to set up forwarding:

Looks like they will be selling names for a lower price as well. I had around 35 accepted today, with most being in the $1200 - $2200 range. The previous hundred or so that were accepted were mostly in the $3K - $5K range.

Just a quick FYI - you can always contest your suggested listing prices. Just reply to the email you get when your names are suggested and our team will take a look.

It's especially helpful for us to know if you've received previous offers. If you've had the domain appraised you can let us know that as well, although for low-traffic, brandable-type names appraisals are all over the board but usually lower than we would suggest.

This is true. We have relaxed our strict acceptance critera *a bit*, mainly due to feedback from our buyers that they are looking for more options. We have several repeat customers that are very open with us, and they let us know when they found something else on an auction site or other marketplace -- and many times it's a name that doesn't quite make our "awesome" grade, but we're learning that people are willing to consider options, especially if they come at a lower price.

Many of these names that would have otherwise not made the cut are going to be priced lower. Every name is still priced according to our standard scoring, so great names are still going to be published in the $2500-$4000 range, but there will be an increase in names priced $1500 and below (which we actually didn't have very many of before now.)

The reason @Aalrashad had so many names accepted in one shot is that we processed over 2.5 months of backlogged submissions in a matter of days. It can seem overwhelming, and we're not exactly proud that we got that far behind (it was due, as another user pointed out, to the fact that we were focusing on a major website and database upgrade.) What he doesn't mention is how many names were NOT accepted. :) Taking a quick look at our acceptance percentage, we've really only gone from about 8.5% acceptance to just over 11%.

They just accepted most of my domains today, however their suggested listing price is a little too low for me. Plus you have to pay a listing fee, is this something new? I didn't know you had to pay a listing fee. Anyways, I think I am only going to select 1 or 2 to be listed primary cause I feel they are low balling all my domains.

As I mentioned a bit earlier, please feel free to reply to your acceptance email if you'd like your prices to be reconsidered!

It's funny you said that. I remember when people were submitting unregistered names for approval and it seems like Brand Bucket doesn't care. Here are all the ones available to register from the ones I voted on. I have said it in the past and I'll say it again, It's absolutely bullshit that people should be able to submit names that aren't even registered. They need to fix their system because it's embarrassing for them.

There was a time where a few users were submitting unregistered names, and we cracked down on that. There is also 2 years of submissions, so many of the names had expired. We did overlook this when building the voting, so due to everyone's feedback we've now fixed the system to exclude anything that's not registered.

Thank you, Margot, and I'm glad you posted the new IP. I wasn't sure if I should, so I didn't.

I submitted a name yesterday, and it was reviewed in 15 hours ! I guess that must be some kind of record. It was rejected; but somebody reviewed it very quickly which is good.
The bottleneck seems to be logo designs at the minute.

Ralph.

As a BB logo designer, I can confirm there are not backups in logo design.

Available logos are actually taken by designers very very quickly when they are available. 0 in the queue as we speak.

That's strange listser, because I have two names pending which were accepted and paid for twelve days ago.

I don't think they show sold names any more. I searched for mine and got no results.

Hi Ralph, i think what you are waiting for is the Brandbucket review. This is the last step before accepted names get pushed to the logo design queue. You can find out when you login to your account and check the Pending tab.

Just got an email stating that whatever names are in my Brand Bucket account that have been accepted but I have not paid the listing fee for are now free to list for today only. Not sure if it's for everyone but check your emails just in case.
