I just sold a domain on BB which has just completed successfully, but I do have a suggestion regarding transfer of domains.

I'm wondering if transfers would go smoother if BB created "transfer" accounts for the major registrars for transfer into by the seller. That way, BB could just push the domain from BB's transfer account to the buyer's account at the same registrar.

I had a scary moment when I realized that I had just transferred my sold domain to someone with a private registration.

My transfer went smoothly enough, but there was a thud-in-my-stomach moment when I wondered if the buyer might not verify the transfer.

BB may have another way of verifying transfers, so it may not be a problem -- it turned out not to be a problem for me, but it's just a thought -- just in case the buyer is, let's say, a bit ethically challenged.

For most transactions we do have our own transfer accounts at the registrar that the buyer prefers. There are times, however, that the buyer is insisting on a registrar that has a VERY immature and insecure account-to-account domain push system (you'd be surprised at some of the larger registrars who just haven't figured this out) and a seller-to-buyer direct transfer is the safest course of action -- and we always act as the pass-through for secure information like the authorization code.

Hi Margot, appreciate your presence here on NP. Since the new site you guys have been sending out (weekly?) emails regarding: Domain names on BrandBucket requiring your attention. The email ends with:

"You'll receive this notification once a week as long as you have names in your To Do list. If you have questions, if you would like to discuss the suggested listing prices, or if you simply would like any of the names removed from this list, please don't hesitate to contact us - it's as easy as replying to this email."

I have about 10 or so accepted names in my account that i haven't pushed live because i think the suggested listing prices don't make any sense (too low imo). So i responded to this email saying exactly that only to receive a "canned" response 2.5 weeks later saying that suggested listing prices are non negotiable. So what's the whole point of inviting people to respond to discuss the suggested listing prices if this isnt something you guys wan't to look into?

Thanks for bringing this up -- this was actually a miscommunication between our submissions team and our help desk/support team that I corrected a couple of days ago. When we started the weekly emails our intention was (and still is) to open up pricing conversations for any not-yet-published name, particularly if the price is the reason that you are choosing not to move forward. Our support staff has been trained now to look out for price concerns and to escalate them to our group in charge of approvals and pricing, rather than to use our more generic response about how you're allowed to raise (and lower) our suggested price by 20%.

Margot,

When will the new voting-based perk system be operational? How can we have our domain names featured? Thanks for your reply.

Can anyone share their experience on how long it took for a domain to be listed after approval? I have a few that have been pending and am looking for a ballpark estimate. Thanks.

bhawk,
Here is what is happening for me currently. It may help to give you a time frame of what to expect.

However, you never know because there are live listings for domains that have been registered after some of mine have been accepted so I guess it depends on the writers preparing descriptions.

My last 7 domains with submitted, accepted, and published dates.
Domain 1 : Submitted: 3.12 Accepted: 5.13 Published: 5.22
Domain 2 : Submitted: 4.7 Accepted: 5.13 Published: Not Yet
Domain 3 : Submitted: 4.18 Accepted: 5.14 Published: Not Yet
Domain 4 : Submitted: 5.23 Accepted: 5.26 Published: 6.11
Domain 5 : Submitted: 5.23 Accepted: 5.26 Published: Not Yet
Domain 6 : Submitted: 5.23 Accepted: 5.26 Published: Not Yet
Domain 7 : Submitted: 5.23 Accepted: 5.26 Published: Not Yet

Thanks for this. Exactly what I was looking for. I'm right at about a month from acceptance.

Poor me. Considering the speed up in approval recently, I thought 3.12, 5.13 and 5.22 are time and not dates.

I'm having a similar experience. I find it incredible that any company would think it ok to take money for a service they're unable to provide for over a month after receiving payment. The way they're handling this is really starting to irk me.

I just noticed today that domains selling for less than $1500 don't get listed on the main pages with all the other domains. They're listed separately under "Value".

Periodic updates from BrandBucket on listing status would be a good feature that would decrease the number of emails they receive wondering when domains will go live.

If I would have known that I would basically be ignored after paying the listing fee and left in the dark as to when my domains would be listed, I probably would not have joined.

Why does it show 10 votes instead of 100? 10 votes count as 1?

Brandbucket names are all live now. :) 18 submitted, 7 accepted and all live. Waiting to see if any sell. Fingers crossed.

Leaner, faster and more shiny website.
We have been busy adding more features and making the website more responsive to more devices and potential customers. Transactions from mobile devices have doubled in the last three months. We created new segments for visitors to better search and find what they are looking for. We improved search and filtering tools to show more qualified related names.

Conversions from new website visitors have increased by 150% for organic traffic, 180% for Adwords and 300% for affiliates. We must be doing something right! ;)

From 40 to 400 new names per month.
Two years ago we were adding an average of 40 new names per month. Recently we have been hitting the 400 per month mark! We are not compromising on quality as we grow, and we did hit a bit of a slowdown with the on-boarding process. To deal with the growth we recruited additional brand editors and logo designers. Our submission process is getting faster and we are aiming to making it even faster and more transparent with more enhancements on the way. We are still listening and improving so please keep the feedback coming.

Last but not least, we are expanding!
To be announced soon, we are joining forces with some insanely great new partners in the brandable business names space. Stay tuned for upcoming press releases.

Happy selling!

The BrandBucket Team

For those who have had domains sell, how many of those were with a logo and/or a premium listing? Has any one sold domains there from just the basic of all basic listings?

All domains listed on Brandbucket have a logo included and all listings are basic listings. There used to be a option to pay for a featured listing but this feature has been removed with the revamped site.

I've sold 18 names, and I think only 2 or 3 were premium listings.

Searching through brandbucket names looks exactly like searching through the daily drop list.

Here.... BeLoon.com

100% available for hand registration... blows away domains on the first three pages of BrandBucket.

Someone tell Margot to hire a dropcatcher and stop copywriting horrendous eMails that feature a THREE SENTENCE newsletter.

Time to hang the racket up.
