Hi guys!!Had my domains Attuna.com & Lebony.com published on BB.Though simple,the logos are appealing.Awaiting my first sale....
Michael Krell-in light of the recent Google news might BB be looking at "keyword/generic" .xyz extension names in the future? Sellers can buy them for $1 and then the listing fee is really no issue, but they should be priced just like .com-no lowballs. Just curious. Thank you.

We won the .xyz challenge thing (by sheer luck) recently so Ive been looking around and there's many GREAT .xyz 2 word brandables available. Most numerics (good ones) and "keywords" are gone but plenty of 2 word names that sound great. Just a thought but a different section within BB for say 500 or 1000 of these PREMIUM 2 word names for CEO's to look at might work-as I mentioned above in light of Google and .xyz. and btw .xyz has another Challenge going on right now for both .com and .xyz and the winner gets $1000 in each extension-send them your recent BB names-you might win!

What do you select in the "Pre-Approved Discount" (0%, 5%, 10%)
I always select 0% ... would you recommend a different settings?

IMO "0" % because if a CEO wants a name-a few hundred isn't really going to matter.

Most buyers on BB are SME's, not fortune 500 CEO's. Quite often a few hundred dollars difference can seal the deal when selling domains.

I usually leave it at 0% since I can still authorize a % decrease - just won't be instant. I figure it is the happy medium between the two - don't want them to assume all of mine can be purchased for less (so if it is a large company they just buy it), but if they would like it for less, I can still discuss with them and honestly often would do it.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Do people often bargain for discounts? Does making the % automatic increase sales?

Thanks!!

Doron-that's a very valid point-Im sticking with "0" % on mine but that's a great point for all to consider.

For me it really depends on the name. Usually I choose 5% or 10% for my most expensive names. I select 0% for names in the $XXX-2.5K range.

Within 1 month (since 7/18/2015) BB accepted 20 out for my 35 submitted names. I'm certainly doing well considering that 2 years ago when I started after they accepted 2 of my names, BB rejected all 43 out of 43 submissions in a three month period. It was very disappointing but I was determined to revise my choices more carefully and fix that. Some of the rejected names I managed to sell individually and on other marketplaces. Some other I decided to keep because I really really like them.

The way BB works is when one of your domains is listed at let's say $2,500 and someone contacts BB with a $2,000 offer they will just reject it (on your behalf and without your knowledge) unless the offer falls into the percentage discount range that you have set. This is a major flaw of their marketplace imo as pretty much any other marketplace (including key competitor Brandroot) allows potential buyers to submit an offer to kick start a negotiation.

The issue with BB imo is the fact that

Thanks dv,

I haven't had the honor of doing this yet, but I thought that they allowed you to negotiate with them if they submitted a lower offer?? Or did I read it wrong?

Like I said, if an offer is made on of your domains below the listing price (incl your pre-approved discount) you will never even hear about it. BB will simply reject the offer and won't inform you about it. Surely this will be different with the ultra premium names but those are not the names most of us have listed.

Hey Dominic,

You'll get better I'm sure. The fact that you are a running your very own well designed marketplace will help you sell even rejected names. It doesn't mean that the names suck. If you see one of my last posts, I've sold such names in other marketplaces, Sedo or by out-reaching potential buyers. One thing I can say, have faith in your choices, be 200% sure that you really like a name and only then make the purchase. If you have a question or two about it, better leave it, otherwise chances are you'll be most likely screwing your budget.

Wow-I had no idea they did this.

Well they are a fixed price marketplace. That's why they have the pre-approved discount for sellers. If you set it at 0% this means 0%. The thing for me personally is that I want to be in the loop on any decent offer my names get, even if it's 50% of the listed price.

I've received such offers before and they will let you know, not sure about 50% off the listed price though. I think it depends on the price range. This one below was for a bargain name. I think you can ask if any other of your names received an offer. I accepted the following offer

A prospective buyer has made an offer that is roughly 28% below your asking price for N-a-m-e.com. At the current price, your take-home amount is $XXX. The buyer's offer would make your take-home $XXX.

Please let me know if you'd like to accept the offer, counter or deny.

Trust me guys, BB will surely let you know about any considerable offer and will recommend you what action to take. I did not give any discount for the name below and it sold 2 months after for my asking price. Exactly as BB predicted as well.

A prospective buyer has expressed interest in your domain N-a-m-e.com, but the buyer is seeking a discounted price. We believe that this is a strong domain that could likely reach your asking price if given more time. However, since the name has be listed for a few months, you may want to consider offering a discount in the 5%-10% range.

At the current price, your take-home amount is $XXXX. A 5% discount would reduce your take-home to $XXXX. A 10% discount would reduce your take-home to $XXXX.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

I'd just like to add that BrandRoot is doing it as well.

I would think it would be in their best interest - they still make a lot and the more volume they sell, the better for their bottom line. I thought I read somewhere that they would email you, but I must have been reading between the lines, because I can't find it anywhere. I would LOVE to hear @michaeljkrell's opinions on this..
