question Brandables on Marketplaces any success?

SpaceshipSpaceship
Watch
I have like 500 5-6 word brandables... some are on BB and the rest on Domain Name sales landers.
Also listed on Sedo, Afternic...
1)Got very limited number of enquiries from DNS (like 10 in total), and none of them really serious!
2) Been there for like 6 months
3) ZERO sales on Sedo, Afternic
4) Priced reasonably
5) Decent short brandables... like Covalo .com and stuff like this
6) In afternic premium and chosen the reference one word category , sedo a similar one!
7) Get like 75 type-ins per day according to DNS for these brandables alone.
8) Mostly NOT hand registered, but from teh drop.
All priced between 1200-2500. Any suggestions? I was thinking to build my own brandables marketplace, is this the best converting scenario?

Thanks a lot in advance!!

IMO
Maybe your asking price is too high comparing with your names quality.

I will try to review pricing again, but Im starting to think that Afternic and Sedo are only visited by domainers :)
I think end users goto places like GD and Brandable marketplaces?

- Apply some of them on Brandable marketplaces, so you can know the quality grade of your names.
- List some them on eBay with option (Make Offer)

there are good and bad brandables..
if yours are mostly bad ones (check spelling, vowel & consonants combinations, combination of (key)words) ) then it's a mere lottery/gamble on your side..
even more so if you truly did mean 5-6 words(!), and not letters...

plus, don't forget that with brandables there is almost never a need first, only a want from buyer side.. easy to find a similar but lower priced variant to any of your brandables..

ps: try lowering your prices to mid/high xxx for the next 1-2 months and see if anyone bites..

I will revise the pricing.. I think this might be the problem... I will make sure to be priced better for audience/prospects... Wish me luck :)

Hi

you may have to hold those names for YEARS before getting decent offer or a sale at BIN price.
so take it as a blessing that you got some inquiries within 6 months.
that should give inspiration that at least some of those names peaked the interest of visitors.

also, remove the notion from your mind about where domainers and end-users roam, because what you're assuming is not true for those venues.

as often they can be both one and the same. because there are domainers who will pay end-user pricing and there are end-users who offer lowball amounts.

imo....

I wont have to hold on them for years. I will adjust the pricing as suggested and they will sell. Honestly, you're a veteran domainer, but on all forums, all your posts are demotivating, not every domainer is a gambler, so dont assume I am one of them... My domains are hand selected from the drops and auctions on a daily basis, been appraised by a couple of high end domainers to be good, few are not worth to keep. in general, it takes sometime for someone to succeed, else its not a business.. I already get in average x,xxx sale every month from brand bucket,, which shows the selection is not bad at the end of them..
dont get me wrong, I thank you for taking the time to comment, and I never take comments sensitively, nor do they let me down, but some others do, and you might be (not on purpose) one of the reasons they leave domaining out of demotivation.. Have a great day.

Anyone that has a large group of brandables should list them all on one page and forward them all to that page. Sometimes a person will type in a name to see if its available and all of your other names get exposure. It has happened many times that a person types in a name and they land on my entire list and end up not buying the one they typed in but buy another one off the list. I had one person that landed on my list and bought 20 names at one time for a nice discount. It does work.

You also have to remember your competing against other brandable marketplaces that get much more exposure. Make sure your names are priced right. If you have a name that you were willing to list on BrandBucket for lets say $1,800 when you deduct the logo and commission fee your take is only $1,260 minus lets say another $100 for the logo so in your pocket you'll get $1,160. So don't list that same name on your site for $1,800 just because you saw a name on BB that was priced similar. Undercut their price by asking $1,160 for that name because thats what you were willing to take anyway and the buyer thinks they are getting a tremendous deal. Your prices should always be less then any of the brand marketplaces.

Try to keep the prices under $1,995. People like to see that number 1 in the price. Go through your list and and pick out 100 of your lowest quality names and put them at $295. Sell 15 or 20 to recoup renewal fees in the beginning. See if you get any sales for a month or two and if not then you know the quality of the names isn't good enough for higher prices. You will never know how good your names are until you sell some. You may think they are great but they may not be. Sales will answer that question. Go through the rest of your list and price them between $495 and $1,495. Making sales will help with your motivation. Once you sell a few regroup and reprice if necessary.

in your initial post, you stated nothing about getting a "x,xxx sale every month on bb"

yet you asked for "any suggestions" like you weren't moving any of the names.

on top of that, you state that all my posts are demotivating, because "everyone is not a gambler. like im assuming you are,

when you caught those names on a drop or however you got them.....you were gambling then.
.
gambling, investing, risk taking, being hopeful, wishful thinking, optimistic outlook, etc, etc.
same feelings that every other domainer gets.... that the names we buy, will sell for more than acquisition costs.

if you don't admit it to yourself, then you're operating in denial.

imo...
Good Luck!

@bazabizo This thread could get very informative about brandable domain names selection, pricing, valuation, marketing, selling..etc.

If it is possible for you to show some (like for instance 5-10) of your domains that you think are very valulable & you love them most in a way to convert them into your own websites stores or outlets on having budget or time.

Your sharing of 5-10 of these domains as I mentioned above could help in better assessing your question by seasoned members here. They may dig deeper with their experience into the whole scenario & to share their opinions in that regard.

I am requesting this as it felt that your domains are not selling early (that does not mean they are less valuable, may be they are extremely valuable).

Very interesting thread indeed regarding brandable domains. Thankyou.

Hi

no problem, bababizo :)

I think those looking to find their way, should first consider whether they are flippers or long term investors.

when you have brandables, sometimes you have to wait for that name to become enticing, as the general publics' mind swings your way or new inventions/services make your name become more appealing.

that waiting, if/when you can, will always give you best leverage when negotiating with a potential.

however, a quick flip that adds income for better acquisitions is always a good move too.

imo...

I should add that you could try listing some of the domains here on NamePros.com, there's a group of domainers here creaming of brandables - I'm sure you'll get some sales here.

I have sold a lot of brandable names over the years - and they all had one thing in common - they can relate specifically to a product or service with a root word (or at least part of a root word) in them. i also try to select names that could be used for multiple types of business.

good example: j i g s y .com - root word jig

not good: jilopo - just a random batch of letters
