It seems people have gotten the word that they don’t control their social media pages, the underlying social media company’s do so they are registering these personal domain names and pointing them to a their social media page.
According to a press release Godaddy published today said they are seeing an increase of 37% of such domains in the past 18 months.

How else can you rank or index your site but to point your entire property towards Facebook. They are weighed heavily in results and link authority....It's a way to pass along link authority and have it land on a Fan Page and then point another link to another site.

Interesting. But I think the problem for us domainers is individuals are basically stingy with buying domain names for big bucks. So how to make money after knowing this?

Gonna lead to more sales but not bigger revenues. I mean when i first started I thought a dot com registration fee due every year to rent a domain was pretty expensive and not worth the cost.
