The weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. The highest publicly reported .net sale since we started tracking the domain market two years ago resulted in a six-figure sale for the fourth week in a row. Despite most American offices being closed for the Labor Day holiday, buyers and sellers stayed on the job with a lot of them clocking in at SnapNames, a venue that racked up six of the Top Ten sales. In another unprecedented event we have a country code domain from Poland on our Big Board for the first time. On the New TLD front there were six four-figure sales with .info and .US sharing the wealth. Read all about it through the link below:

Nice report as usual Duke.

From your bit on us domain sales:
"It's ironic that foreign companies may play the lead role in familiarizing Americans with their own country code!"

As long as they become familiar, it works for me. What people may not realize is that as these foreign businesses establish their US sites, their US business customers interact with them using dot us domains and email addresses. As this continues to grow, the promotion of the dot us names space may not be seen by many domainers at the consumer level on tv or in popular magazines but rather will be growing in leaps and bounds in the b2b sector. The dot us name space is developing as a destination for business but ultimately as familiarity grows, these businesses will begin to use dot us in marketing at the consumer level. Some do now.

I don't think there is any doubt about it. .US sales have grown steadily for me month after month for the past year and a half, even though I keep raising the prices. The number of developed .US pages in Google has also quadrupled over the past year. Worldwide the heaviest hitters are .com and the local ccTLD's. .US isn't batting cleanup yet but it has earned a place in the country code lineup. Now if .de would just pull a leg muscle! :D

Not only does news.net have a lot of value in itself, I wonder if it would also get any stray traffic intended for new.net or it's many subdomain users.

Lima (long "i") is also a fair size city in Ohio, and the international phonetic code for the letter "L" used in aviation. However, I presume with the other peruvian domain, it's known that's that it was purchased for the Peru city.
