Has anybody had any dealings with Beyond.com? I have some employment domain names to develop and I am considering them.

Here's the deal they offer.....

$2,500 one time fee for developing your site. They provide the job board, design, database, web hosting and collect all payments and support.

40% revenue share first year (my share)
45% revenue share second year

After 2nd year you can negotiate contract and may get 50% or higher depending on performance. One job posting costs $250.

You can use your own advertising links such as Adsense on your site and keep 100% or use their advertising banners and split the ad revenue.

$150 to add each additional job domain site.

An example of their sites is SeattleJobs.com

The main advantage I see of using Beyond.com instead of starting your own employment site is that they already have a large number of job postings in the database.

Please let me know if you think this is a good or bad deal or any comments?

Thanks!

Their portal software / revenue share partnership model does seem very enticing, IMHO ... and I once considered this option but decided the up-front costs were too much for me at the time, IMHO. I'd be curious as to others' dealings with them ... and one thing I never got was the actual revenue and stats, etc. for some of their other participating members - for instance, how much does SeattleJobs.com generate on a monthly basis, what are the stats and expectations? How about for others in their network - PittsburghJobs.com? PhoenixJobs.com? Etc? :gl:

Can local ad banners and anchored text links be sold by you (above and beyond Adsense) in addition to their staple "network sponsors" ... and can those easily be coded in and customized for additional (non-sharing) revenues? How do they assist with SEO and advertising? :$:

I really like their "turn-key" concept and immediate postings of job listings & their content on your domain/site ... I guess, for me, digging for additional details and expectations might help to justify the initial investment? Also, how much is their fee in subsequent years, etc?

It's a lot of questions, I know ... but I'd be willing to assist in getting them addressed with you! I'll dig around here and try to find the name of the contact there that I spoke with, as well.
All the best,

For instance, I'd be curious to see who has kept with the Beyond.com partnership program ... and who has ventured out on their own (LocalCareers.com?), and why? :gl:

And perhapos talking to the folks at: http://www.jobseekers.net ... to see how they like the program, how long they've been doing it, how much they're making, traffic / stats / kinds of revenue, feedback etc. :imho:

Also, would it be best and more efficient - to start - to target these geographically?

I concur with what Jeff had to say.

Also, how much access do you get to your site and it's coding? My biggest concern would be SEO'ing the Beyond-provided site. Depending on your job niche, it could be very competitive so on page SEO would be a major concern.

But Beyond does have a strong interconnected network of sites so there is some good "link juice" to help with search engine ranking.

If you decide to look at stand alone jobboard scripts, one to consider is PHPJobSite - http://www.scriptdemo.com/details/phpjobsite/
