Beware of Ebay seller, "yoursforthebidding". They canceled a completed auction. No reason given. Just a message that the auction was canceled, your money has been refunded. My theory. They didn't like the final price.

That is definitely unfortunate. The good thing is that you got your refund and money back. When I first saw the thread title I thought the story may have ended differently. Always be careful when dealing ebay because there are lots of reversals and horror stories of people losing their money with domains on there. It sounds like you were the buyer this time though, and it's normally the seller who has the horror story.

Don't sweat it too much.. You got your money back and there are plenty of other domains. You may end up finding a better one for your hard earned cash :)

@Weber This is why eBay has a negative feedback option! USE IT! Because he has 100% feedback, he might work with you.. I've had sellers who think they are gonna get away with shenanigans like this, but once i leave negative feedback they BEG for forgiveness. But there are some sellers who have more pride than common sense and they will ruin their feedback because they have no respect or ethics.

And then people, there are legitimate reasons people will stop an auction or refund.
Happens on sedo, bido, blah blah blah.
And yes, on godaddy.

First, who cancelled?
Was it EBAY?
They are the only ones that can end an auction when it ends.
And they have valid reasons for doing so.
Couple of weeks back, I bought a super nice vape pen.
And a few days later, after I have received it.
Notice from Ebay that the seller was banned (no reason given).
And that I could be happy with my purchase (which I am).
Or submit a claim for my money back.

So they might have cancelled this auction after it ended because they found something fishy with the seller, the domain, or whatever.

You guys don't need to blame Ebay.Take a look at all the domain names for sale on Ebay.
Many people new to domain names business list some great domain names for $0.99 auction style.
hey! you contact the seller and say that you want to buy the domain name for $300 if he or she can cancel
the auction. I bet you that the seller will cancel the auction to take the cash offer. Don't blame them.

Neutral feedback will be the right thing to do. Things happens as others stated. If he/she does this often then don't worry as now-a-days buyers left negative feedbacks very often.

Just curious @Weber, since I am assuming that you bidded on a domain auction that was closed..if you would have won, would it have been a steal?

There is no option to leave feedback on a canceled listing or auction in this case..

The seller cancelled.

I canceled an auction once myself, a few years ago, because the buyer said they made a mistake, but we mutually agreed to that action.

Yes, there are legitimate reasons, but as I noted, I wasn't given a legitimate reason.

You said a completed auction... if the auction was not completed then you can't leave feedback. However if the auction was completed then there is always an option to leave feedback.

If the seller canceled early, there is nothing you can do.

The auction was not cancelled early. It ended with myself as the high bidder.

The catch here is that it's an electronic item offered for sale. The number one reason to legitimately cancel an auction is that the item is no longer available to sell and/or the condition changed (its missing, description no longer valid since listing; broken, newly scratched) But with a domain name there is a much lesser chance of these things. My guess is ebay doesn't want to do whois searches and police domain sales to that degree.

If it ended with you as the high bigger, than you can leave feedback, thats how it works.

Call ebay and find out why you can't leave feedback. This is the first time I've ever heard anyone not being able to leave feedback on a COMPLETED listing with a high bidder. And i have been using eBay since 2007
