Best way to advertise an India website

I have a website geared around the Indian community and India residents, although I myself do not live in India. What are some of the best ways to promote an India website? Does PPC work well? What about Indian newspapers? Would really appriciate some feedback

Could try try settting up a forum on indian websites, I reg with Yahoo.in and set up a blog for my vodka site there, also all the usual social network sites.

There are sites for indian domain names, and promotion for sites.

In any country, websites will attract users if the site is good or useful. It must either have unique content or must be a utility site thats unique. Or it might as well occupy a grave in the hugely populated internet graveyard. And I have to confess that I own a good number of graves in the internet graveyard :D

I recommend looking for a geo-targeted ad program. Don't waste your money on advertising to users in countries you don't wish to target.

Apart from all the above methods described you can also use social networks to promote your website and this method would even help you achieve good rankings in search engines. Also submitting well written articles to article directories would help you achieving good rankings in the SEs.

PPC won't work in India. Unless you fool us into making text links look like actual links. Most Indian net users are smart, and our eyes are quite trained to filtering out google ads.

Whom you are planning to target to - USER SEGMENTATION - By Age / Gender / etc
Financials / Budget? - Key ingredient to support your marketing campaign

Remember, sometimes even offline campaigns are more successful then online.,. depending the Goal....
