Where is your favorite place to sell names? I have a few domains that dont have any traffic (I havent really done anything with them though), but I think they have value if someone is willing to invest the time. Where should I sell them that offers the best balance between visibility and cost? Thanks

Well, it depends on who you are looking to sell to and how you want to conduct business. Theoretically speaking, endusers are the best way to go but not everyone is cut out for following the enduser path. It takes a lot of time and requires much patience.

Personally speaking, I've met a lot of "success" in forums such as Namepros. You're going to encounter more of the reseller market here, but domains sell quicker and if you're looking just to make a few bucks, then this is the place for you. Forums place you in quick communication with people although they aren't endusers. This means you probably won't get the big $'s but you can still do well.

Cost? Most places are free... (Sedo, afternic, etc.)
I've seen good recent results from pool's marketplace as well, although they are an exclusive listing and you have to transfer the domain to their holding co first.
End users are typically your target audience, but location should just be "wherever you can", :imho:

Thanks for all the advice! So do you not think it is worth it to buy a membership (afternic for e.g.)? These big sites seem to have so many domains you could get seriously lost in there. What do you think of Afternic's Bazaar? I think the reverse auction is interesting as a buyer but it doesnt seem to be good for a seller who really doesnt know the value of their domain. Looks like there are less than a hundred domains listed. Is this because the format is not popular or for another reason?

Also, once your domain is sold how is it actually transfered? What types of payment options should I be looking into? Do you need to use an escrow account for small potato sales?

Sorry for the 20 ?s, I'm learning as I go here :)

I like sedo for good domains and they have a large user base so if someone is searching for your type of domain they will find it, if low end domains you could try to sell them here in fixed offer or auction sections, for low end sales just get a paypal account and accept payments that way, for high end sales sedo provides escrow service, not the quickest I have found but it works.
