A great part about the domain and parking biz is something that is seldom mentioned.

You have your names nicely parked. they look good and the name + parked site attracts a buyer. All good - you sell - you get your money. next month you quickly check your parking stats and see that the name you sold and got your money for is still producing money for you! Schweet. (I never click to change servers when selling - why should I)

It has now happened quite a lot to me. I have one name I have continued to park for over 3 years!!! Luckily the new owner is still renewing the domain.

That is the value of having a nicely parked name. The new owner likes it so much that he drops his own plans.. :)

I have 2-3 domains that were sold and I moved them into the "sold or deleted" folder only to see them still parked under my account. I feel a little guilty about this, but they don't earn much and the new owners do not seem to know or care. If I get an offer for the domain I will let the new owner know.... :)

ok heres my un-educated input, but when you push and you "click" change information to new owner, (as a courtesy) shouldnt that resolve this problem?

Well, it's not a problem for the person selling the domain. But it's not the contact information that stays the same, but the name server information.

If you buy a domain and don't change the name servers, they stay as they were before you bought the domain. Some buyers don't park their domains so they don't think about what the name servers are. This allows the former owner to keep collecting income if they have the domain parked.

yea i didnt get to that i wasnt 100% on that information., i guess if your only building a portfolio for other reasons. then the seller is eligible and not really unsure how to say this but you know what i mean

I dont think you should feel guilty AT ALL. You sold them the name and full control. Many names I've have also ended up at a server not found page which doesnt do anybody any good.

The lesson for sure is not to change (delete) name servers.

I agree this rocks a lot of my buyers have the whois information changed over to their names but for one reason or another they neglect to change the nameservers thereby adding to my previous portfolio....it's quite nice.

Yes, what a great thing to get money that you don't deserve, like finding a wallet in the street or a home with the door unlocked. We should enjoy taking as much as possible for ourselves without thought of others....!

I agree - if you sell a domain and transfer ownership to someone else then it is their responsibility to change name servers. Opps for them - great for us

When I sell a parked domain I go to fabulous and remove it from my parking portfolio.

Another good option would be to go back to the original buyer and offer to buy the name back -- at a much lower price that makes sense naturally. Since they havent developed the site they might accidentally or even purposely let it expire. This would be a pity since you would lose your free parked income and have a hard time snatching back the name you once owned and liked.
