I don't trust Appraisal services. Contact the buyer offer him high and settle the price the best.

Estibot.com is a common domain appraisal site used by many. They also power or run a secondary site using the same metrics, which is called Valuate.com, and typically both render the same or similar valuations. Both of these sites are FREE appraisal sites.

Some other FREE sites are: NameBoy.com, SwiftAppraisal.com and DomainTops.com. All use their own metrics on which to base their appraisals, so more than likely no two sites will be the same, unlike those listed above.

Additionally, most reputable Registrars will also have their own fee-based appraisals and valuation services. Fees will vary per Registrar, and will have their own set of metrics used, more often than not.

Helpful tip: Important to keep in mind appraisal sites should be used as merely a guide or tool, not a method on which to base your decision to register or not register a domain name. Appraisals are subjective and can vary widely, depending upon a number of factors, including service used.

You can also check Traffic and CPC stats at various places, which is more beneficial than any appraisal site, IMO. Google's Keywords Tool is a great tool to use for this. Estibot can also offer similar stats, but I tend to feel Google is far more accurate, reliable and reputable.

-Regards

Best way to appraise domain names is to find comps on DnSalePrice and NameBio. DomainMart has some good articles on appraising revenue producing websites. Also good ideas on Experienced-People.net. The problem with the automated tools is that there are too many variables to consider and they must, by necessity, take a very narrow approach. Ultimately, any domain is worthless unless it is possible to build a business on it.

I meant paid services. Those free domain app sites are worthless in my opinion. I need a real service where my names can be appraised by someone.

What I would do if I were you, I would list it on Sedo first and then use their free service for appraisal. If they appraise your domain less than 500 then I wouldn't bother wasting my money elsewhere.

The best domain appraisals: actual sales.

First, why do you want to get a 'real service' to appraise your name/s? Have you received an offer on a domain, asking you to appraise the name before they will buy it? - That's an appraisal scam, beware.

Second, if the above isn't the case and you just want some names appraised for your own knowledge, then best place for that is simply the Appraisals section in Namepros. Amateurs and experts alike, from all over the world, and who have been in this industry for many years, will give you appraisals and you'll get a very rounded idea of what your names are worth. With a paid appraisal service (an honest one, anyway) you'll be getting the comments of just one appraiser. But most of us at Namepros look at the exact same stats as any 'professional appraisal service' would; we check the age, traffic, alexa, history, comps, end user potential, etc etc etc. At least, I do and I know many other members do before appraising most names.

Do a search for "domain appraisal services" and things like that. Don't bother contacting any site that does not have their address posted on their site. Ask them for samples of domains they have appraised. Check their appraisals at Estibot. While Estibot doesn't mean much, most of their appraisals are close if you check actual domain sales of domains $500 and up. It's good for a quick check of potential value.

Plan on spending $100 or more per appraisal. If you want a good professional service that means something, then it's going to cost you for at least an hour of someone's time.

Lastly, if you are thinking you can use the appraisal to jusify the price, I think you are wasting your money. While there are some factors that most will agree on, there are many that they don't. This is why prices can vary so widely on domains. It really get's down to how much you and a buyer THINK a domain is worth, not what someone else says. :)

Oh, you should also do s search for "domain appraisal scam" so you can see the sites that are involved in scams. I don't think you will want to use any of those "real human appraisals". :)

My thoughts exactly, I bet the OP was contacted by the scammers.

IMO... if you happen to own quality domains you would know it and you wouldn't need to have them appraised
Probably the names are not even worth the cost of the appraisal. To sell domains you need buyers, if your domains are bad nobody will want them. Even reasonable appraisals won't help.
