So what is it guys:?

Was it a crap name:? $61 crap:?

Bido is only for dumping unwanted dross:?

Bido is a buyers auction only:?

Or what:?

Anyway- Se la vie

I did not know this but someone on everything.tv talkback posted, The government officially discourages the use of the name Ivory Coast in English, preferring the French name Côte d'Ivoire to be used in all languages.

That I knew but still gets 19 million plus results on Google so that would hardly be a factor. Interesting they prefer the idn. :D

Ok maybe a factor is it is a poor, no tourism country, that according to wikipedia is highly corrupt.

Maintaining close ties to France since independence in 1960, diversification of agriculture for export, and encouragement of foreign investment, has made Côte d'Ivoire one of the most prosperous of the tropical African states. However, in recent years Côte d'Ivoire has been subject to greater competition and falling prices in the global marketplace for its primary agricultural crops: coffee and cocoa. That, compounded with high internal corruption, makes life difficult for the grower and those exporting into foreign markets.

I like BIDO's design and responsiveness to member feedback. But it is a new platform and does not yet appear to be attracting the buyers you see at Namejet for example. Premium domain buyers want to see premium domains for sale and yet premium domain owners aren't going to offer their domains for sale unless they feel they will sell at a fair price. I'm a little apprehensive about some upcoming auctions I have in the next week but thus far I'm just testing the waters - submitting domains on the lower end of my portfolio. In either case, I have done a bit of promotion outside of Namepros (Twitter, Facebook, a forex forum and "enough" enduser emails) and none of my scheduled auctions are .TVs - three .COMs, one .Net and two .Org domains. Strange that I only have about ten .Org domains and yet two submissions quickly received the necessary five votes at BIDO. If my six auctions average the typical $50 sale I'll reevaluate.

This is a mid to high $xx domain reseller price (at best). It sold in a reseller marketplace in range. IMO.

That's what it got so a great after the event appraisal- bit of a no brainer.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

Unlike Sedo or other major domain sale platforms, Bido lacks many potential buyers. FYI, lebanon.tv is on Sedo with 2 bids. Currently at $1,550.

As I said -Se la vie- I had sold similar .tv geo's here for mid $xxx so simply chose the wrong venue- twice bitten.

I'd say you chose the wrong names *if* you were looking for higher sales.

Don't blame the venues, blame your own name selection. IMHO

A quick Namepros search for the domain reveals that you've been trying to sell this domain since 2005 in no fewer than 13 separate sales threads. I think it's pretty clear that the name is the problem, not the venues. You can't get premium prices for junk domains in any marketplace. IMO.

You call it superior knowledge, I call it common sense.

You call it superior knowledge, I call it common sense.

...the least common of all sense.

Ivory Coast sold for what it is worth right now. Outside of some safaris, I do not know of any other attraction that would warrant visitors to their country.

Perhaps it just comes over as superior knowledge- wish I had it- I can always dream about reaching such dizzy heights. :P

I doubt any domainer would be intereseted in that domain... so reselling wouldnt bring any good money.

Developing? Its not like its a tourist hot spot... so i doubt any good income would be coming from developing.

Endusers?
How big is internet in the ivory coast, internet business? internet TV? I dont know... it doesnt sound like a internet mecca...

+ The country has been VERY unstable in the past... i dont really know how it is now...

But the conclusion of this is its not an attractive domain. You cant go around shouting "BAD NEWS FOR .TV" just cause you couldnt sell your unattractive domain for a price that suits you.

More sage advice, I am getting plenty today, must be something in the air bringing out all the wisdom.

But importantly I can go around voicing my opinions I have the right to my comments as much as yourself and everybody else has the right to dispute them.

I think my previous Se la vie's cover it all.

Whatever the case, opinions, conclusions - it's done.It was a _\|/_

Its just that we tv-people are a little sensitive when it comes to our little baby... :hehe:

Well, I for one like that name a lot. I certainly have "wasted" money on other names and would have been happy to pay that. What a story could be told there...

Once more with gusto -Se la vie
