Backordering Effectiveness

I have never backordered a domain before, but there are a handful of domains which are currently registered that I would like to acquire.

  • Is backordering still effective in today's market?
  • Is backordering only effective for domains that are left to expire?
  • At which point in a domain's lifecycle does the backordering happen?
  • Is backordering effective when it comes to highly contested names?
  • How much does backordering usually cost?
  • Are some websites more effective at backordering than others?

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It is, if you order multiple on multiple platforms.

Statistically, best if DropCatch; $59 only pay if capture it. Unfortunately, if 2+ order the same name, then auction.

#2 SnapNames but $79 and same; only pay if captured.

Love or hate them, everyone agrees; DropCatch’s #1.

Here is how DropCatch explains the process;

@Samer

Yeah, I read a lot of that (the info in your first post) on SnapName's website.

So is the '5-day Pending Delete' stage after it has already gone to the 'expiration' auction or whatever?

believe me, i’m trying to get full jargon.

i learned the hard way, β€œclient transfer prohibited” really means β€œprohibited” i had such high hopes, the name was 30 days past expire, then out of nowhere poof! Dec 2020

if data outdated?, does β€œstatus” is as well. careful!
Check NameInvestors, like how display dn status best,
make sure whois lookup info up date.

never ordered one name, not best to anwer this.
book says β€œDropCatch” and not close...still #1 far ahead.

I haven't done it in years as loved how it once actually worked I now manually find wait out redemption, then pending delete following it 3 months later. Hope for best for hard work.

Saying there’s meaning behind status;

β€œclient transfer prohibited.” etc

wish ICANN would change the wording

Domain status makes a huge difference,

i think few understand it or work to understand it

@lock
what is redemption?
why is backordering any better than just waiting for the domain to naturally go back onto the market?
