Backorder question

How snapnames can loose a backorder against gofrance for a deleting domain ?

I tought snapnames was the most successfull drop catcher !

If you mean GoFrance.com, I very much doubt that will be left to expire, its owned by mdnhinc - ULTSEARCH.COM

Snapnames, Namejet, GoDaddy have partner arrangements with certain registrars so who actually "catches" it would depend on where the domain was registered, unless it is in pending delete which means its a free for all.

Many domains are actually "passed" from registrar to auction house, not dropped and caught.

I am fairly certain that he was meaning he backordered an unknown domain with SnapNames and yet it was registered by GoFrance (used to capture GoDaddy backorders).

Yes, it is very, very rare that GoDaddy will capture a domain ahead of Snap. In fact it has never happened to me but I have heard it can occasionally happen. Therefore I make sure I backorder any name I'm after on all 4 (Snap, NameJet, Pool & GoDaddy). That way you should be covered no matter what.

The name was in "pending delete" state.

Thank you for the advice AussieDomainer. Thats what I will do next time.

Snap have more registrars (= more connection pools to the registry) so the odds of catching through snap are higher in average. But the exact time of the drop is not predictable. That's it.
