domain Azam.com - should I sell it for this price? Advice please

I have been getting about three or four emails a month asking to buy the domain name. None of them have progressed to a serious bid, but I have now had an offer for £40,000/US $73,600 for azam.com. We've been negotiating for weeks and the guy is keen to press ahead with the paperwork.

It means a lot to me. I bought it about four years ago from a Canadian corporation after contacting them for years and offering them more and more money.

There is nothing much on the site at the moment, but I have had plans for years to set up a mini-portal on it. As well as my online businesses, I am a writer, having worked as a journalist for years, and would like to put my writing online and help push my brand so that I can get books published in the future.

I have been busy on other projects, but a super new site was due to go live in Quarter 3 this year.

It has emotional value for me as it is my surname, but I could use nazam.com instead, which is based on my first initial and surname if I sell azam.com

I have already marketed the brand heavily and the domain pulls in a few hundreds visitors a week. I use azam.com as my username in forums, for my email address, business name, bank account etc. So I'm reluctant to sell. But $73,000 is a lot of money for me.

What should I do?

Also, is there a high quality valuation service out there that anybody would recommend please?

I think you should sell it....Unless there is a much more reason behind the name itself and your gut feeling tells you that you'll make way more than that with the site. However over $73000 on azam.com..Its more than worth..

I seems a very fair amount for a surname/name.

I think it is the emotional attachment that is causing your reluctance. You would not have to change your forum names etc, you have Azam.biz , Nazam.com where you could continue your web presence, email etc.

As for "professional" appraisers - I would not give them time.

You have had time wasters before, this appears to be genuine,it is good money, bite the bullet and run to the bank. JMO

Take the money for sure. That is a good price. I sympathise with the emotional attachment, but I'm sure $73,000 could go way past making up for that. You've got enough possibilities with the other domains so I wouldn't dwell on it.

I think you should accept it as soon as possible. You still have options for your web presence. With that amount of money, you could find alternatives for your web presence easily.
