question Available .com domain with a 1500$ registration fee

I came across a domain (furiz.com) that is marked 'available' both in GD and Namecheap but the registration fee is 1500$

I suppose it really is NOT available and I suspect the registrars are mandated to sell the domain exactly as if it were a fixed price auction (BIN). The renewal fee is 'normal'

I honestly found that very shocking. To me, either a domain is available and the regular registration price applies or it's not available and the seller may charge whatever he wants, but not the registrar.

I am really curious to know what mechanism allow registrars to declare a domain as available with such a reg fee.

All .COM cost the same registration price.

The domain you referred to is a premium listing on GoDaddy. It is owned by someone who put it up for sale.
It is not registry owned.
