Registration Fee dropping?

If the registration for an extension drops from lets say $50 a year to $30 a year and i own a domain already. Does my annual fee drop or do i remain at the yearly fee which i registered it at?

basically is it a fixed rate for as long as i own the domain or does it go down, or up in the case of some free regs.

I would think that the price would drop on renewals too.

yeah i would think so.. and hope so as well. Does anyone else know about this?

I guess it depends on whatever the price drop is a promotion or not. It is common to lower the price on new registrations and keep a higher renewal price. Best way to find out is to contact your registrar.
