RE: Autonomous & Driverless car domains

Seems like there's a lot of news lately, as recently as the last few days, of advances in driverless & autonomous cars. There are multiple auto makers getting ready to launch some form of these cars, and of course, Google is working on their project car.

I have a handful of domains related to this news & technology, and I am wondering if anybody else has any? Also, any spike in traffic to your domains, or news of sales???

Self-Driving .Technology

Watch Drive.aiโ€™s self-driving car handle California city streets on a rainy night :xf.smile:

Autonomous vehicle system startup Drive.ai is ready to show off its technology in use for the first time, with a video showing the companyโ€™s test vehicle making its way through the streets of Mountain View.

Other companies have shown us similar videos, of course, including GM-owned Cruise very recently, and Tesla. But Drive.aiโ€™s demonstration is interesting because it depicts incident-free, unbroken footage shot at night, including extensive segments where itโ€™s raining quite a bit.

Drive.ai CEO Sameep Tandon provided the following statement regarding the video and the startupโ€™s testing to TechCrunch:

Today we released the first public video of self-driving technology from the Drive.aiteam.
In the video, you will see our system navigate the streets of Mountain View, CA not only in daylight, but also in the rain and at night. These are conditions drivers encounter every single day. Any successful self-driving technology will need to address countless unpredictable situations and a wide range of driving conditions, yet few are able to today.

Drive.aiโ€™s unique deep learning technology processes information and makes decisions more like the human brain does. Our technology allows us to scale to all kinds of challenging environments.

As one of the few startups in California with an Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permit, we are prioritizing our responsibility to develop technology that is safe in all conditions. We know that our team has the expertise to create the future of autonomous transportation. We couldnโ€™t be more excited to share this first look โ€“ and bring you along for the ride!

A Sheikh Zayed Road without drivers? The rise of self-driving cars

Josh Smith
February 2, 2017 Updated: February 2, 2017 04:11 PM

On November 4, Andreas Wedel climbed into a silver Mercedes E-Class in Dubai and set off on a trip that was to make history. He was bound for Abu Dhabi โ€“ a 150-kilometre high-speed journey straight down the E11 highway. A road notorious for high numbers of aggressively-driven 4x4s does not seem an obvious testing ground, but what Wedelโ€™s team was about to attempt had never been tested in the Middle East before.

Wedel wasnโ€™t driving unaided; in fact, he wasnโ€™t really driving at all. The car had been modified with software that boosted its existing cruise control systems, enabling it to use an array of high-precision sensors to pick up lane markings and the speed and position of the traffic. The car handled steering, brakes and acceleration; all Wedel needed to do was flick the indicator on whenever he wanted the car to change lanes. Everything went smoothly, and the trip was completed without breaching any safety regulations. It could be the easiest drive down the E11 anyone has ever taken.

The teamโ€™s achievement may prove an important step on the regionโ€™s journey towards automation, bringing the goal of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to make a quarter of all Dubaiโ€™s journeys driverless by 2030, that bit closer.

Hello my friends,
Check the following Video

The eminently-quotable computer scientist Alan Kay once said, โ€œpeople who are really serious about software should make their own hardware.โ€ Waymo has taken this message to heart, and we've built our own custom suite, designed specially for fully autonomous driving. At AutoMobili-D 2017, Waymo CEO John Krafcik takes a peek under the hood of the new self-driving Pacifica minivan, equipped with our all new sensor suite. John explains how bringing our hardware development in-house has helped us develop the most advanced self-driving system to date.

Elon Musk: All New Cars Will Be Self-Driving in 10 Years

Elon Musk has made another bold prediction about the future of self-driving cars. In a conversation held at the World Government Summit in Dubai, the Tesla CEO stated that nearly all new cars would be self-driving within the next ten years.

Musk predicts that the first level four autonomous cars from Tesla will arrive by the end of this year. He views this arrival as a paradigm shift for the automobile industry:

โ€œThere are about 2 billion cars in the world and the total annual production capacity is about 100 million cars, which makes sense since the average life of a car before being totally scrapped is about 20-25 years.โ€ This means that the shift to driverless cars wonโ€™t be immediate, but โ€œthe point for which we see autonomy appear will not be the point when we see a massive impact on people because it will take a lot of time to make enough autonomous vehicles to disrupt. That disruption will take place for about 20 years.โ€
