Jeff, I have been in the online auto business for about 10 years now and I can't even begin to tell you how far off the mark you really are.

I am just curious as to what your background is in the automotive industry?

if you developed it and offered a less expensive alternative to eBay's (ebaymotor), i think it could be a great site.

as far as selling .tv's now, i would suggest buying/holding as many "good" one's as you can. wait until this time next year and see how things are. my personal outlook is 2-3 years. if a strong, suitable .tv domain is worth (reg fee- low $xxx) now, it should be worth a considerable amount more when the market ripens.
i think this domain is definetly one that you could prosper from in time.

There is an entire business plan for AutoAuction.TV We have already had talks with Time Warner over this. As with everything, it takes time.

Don't worry about this one it's definitely worth a lot more than reg fee..

There are over 1.5 M searches on Google for "Auto Auction" - Threshold is 1M for decent names.
There are 149K searches for "Auto Auction" listed on OVT - (NOTE: "Car Auction" is a good one too)
There are over 1500 searches for AutoAuction.com on OVT
All extensions are bought up including .ws/.name.
No TM issues (there is an abandoned TM on file with USPTO so your ok)

Good luck with this one. It's obviously going to fit your business plan to a "T". I would trademark Auto Auction TV ASAP.

As far as dollar appraisals this one could easily be worth "quite a bit" if developed, as people will undoubtedly want to "check" out car/auto auctions on TV when this becomes available. Talk about the ultimate "buying" experience, in that you would be trying to outbid others for a car via your TV set. Now that is what .TV is all about... Interactivity at the highest levels.

The only drawback to the name I see is that it's a two worder. Everyone knows Auction.TV would be better however your type-in's will produce better results since people who type in "Auto Auction dot TV" will be interested in what your selling. Sometimes this is a good thing.

I have to bite my finger not to get into details over this, but it is very exciting.

Given the nature of the domain name I have some kind of idea what you're up to, but I think it's the "scope" that I'm not sure of. I'm guessing that is why you're excited as you've probably lined up some heavy hitters to partner with.

AutoAuction.TV

AutoAuction.TV is a great name for development; very memorable and brandable, IMO. If you bought the name to develop it, then I think you'll have much success with the name. If you bought it to flip it within a year, you may have to promote the name quite a bit, as it is quite the niche category.

Given the stats on "Auto Auction" above this name would get offers above reg fee. That is why the name is worth more than reg fee undeveloped.

The appraiser is supposed to add comments. I'm not sure why you are asking others explain what Jeff wrote. If this were the official NPros appraisal forum, the I am certain that Jeff would have added additional comments. But it's not, so his post is...well...a take it or leave it opinion. No big deal.

Why not ask for opinions for a "name" and, with this amount of potential, ensure you get the .com also...

Jeez, aint that the best idea ive seen for a while.. Im, of course, taking it as a live online automotive auction where the vehicle is filmed being auctioned off and you can bid etc?
