Last night I ignored the urge to register SpaceShipThree.com , and today the .com .net .org and .whatnot is all taken.

Today I decided to redeem myself and find another good dn investment. After a bit of investigation I discovered the huge potential of Augmented Reality: Google Trends: augmented reality . The estimated AR market size in 2014 is $732,000,000 , especially in AR marketing.

I think adverts and billboards shown as augmented reality on mobiles will become simply huge, and so I decided to get a piece of the pie, all new .com registrations:

ar+
advert
adverts
billboard
billboards
registrar

There are still a lot of possibilities available, so I thought I'd share this so you can also get a piece of the action :santa:

I'm wondering if as technology evolves and manufactures bring out glasses capable of vr, ar and mr all in one, they may simply be labelled as smartglasses, as it appears they are in this article.

I think with AR poised to being very enterprise driven and mobile- the AR label works as a marketing reinforcer that we are not VR. I think that will be an important market differentiation. Besides, all AR glasses are smart glasses but not all smart glasses are AR glasses. That's my thinking at least.

Yes I agree, AR is a specifc type of content that I am sure end users wil eventually be searching for.

Smart Glasses is going to be a great future search term, but it is too general to take into account search preferences that these future tech's will inevitably bring.

JMO though.

Yeah I've no doubt the tech and software will continue to be referred to as AR, VR etc. I'm just wondering if the hardware will eventually simply be referred to as smartglasses.

Just me thinking out loud :xf.smile:

I've been a busy bee snapping up AR names. It's a different game to VR imo, the brandables will sell and they are always far less predictable as you can see from sales being posted on the VR thread.

Still some nice handregs available.

Identity+(AR)
Identify+(AR)
More+(AR) - Closeout grab.

All in king.

More and more I'm starting to agree with Tim Cook on AR, my hunch is AR will be the tech that gets wider mainstream adoption. VR will have it's place but because of the nature of the tech - headsets, space restrictions, wires and price point etc I think it will appeal more to niche markets, whereas I can envisage AR being everywhere in our daily lives in the not so distant future.

PokemonGo has helped solidify the term AR imho so that's where I'm placing most my bets.

Happy Hunting.

AR sure is a different beast from VR. Not all keywords are interchangeable. AR is a bit more challenging because since AR is tethered to the real world, you can't just take any keyword and slap AR on it like you almost can with VR.

Agree. I just started snapping. I think for now VR domains will sell because they have "sex appeal" and years of word usage/marketing ahead of AR.... but Apple is a trend setting cult like no other company. It's very difficult to not take the words of Tim Cook seriously and disregard the potential of AR to become the behemoth it's predicted to be.

Just sold PureAR_com for mid xxx The bootstrapped developer actually offered more but I got to research his work and it is very promising so I gave him a discount for some valuable word of mouth promotion as he is active in the AR meetup community. I think the name will make a difference.

Nice, congrats. Seems like the AR market certainly warming up a bit, both in terms of domain sales and actual development.

Yes, he called me initially a few months ago and no deal. When he called me a few days I decided to be a bit more flexible and, as we talked, I saw a reasonable opportunity to possiblyget some marketing. I figured a grateful buyer is worth more then the spread lol.

Tried to register that a few days ago. (among with a few other domain names)
I'm a bit late to the AR-party it seems.

What do you guys think of adult AR-domains? The VR-trend has sure taken a spin in the adult industry and I would imagine it's only the beginning.

as always , depends on the keyword .

Augmented Reality is such a long phrase / combination word, that I'd much rather stick to AR. I personally have GoAugementedReality.com, but it is good to keep in mind that for an example the maximum length for a Twitter handle is 15 characters, "augmented reality" is by quick count 16 without the space.

I feel the same about virtual reality. I came close to closing a deal on a vr name for mid $xxxx (due to get back to me), the end user mentioned during talks that they had no interest in hand regging the long tail. It's still sitting there unregistered a year later.

Augmented / Virtual realities are both long phrases, start tacking on keywords and they lose a lot of appeal in the eyes of end users imho. There will be sales of course but they're going to be much tougher to come by.
