Augmented Reality (AR) domains

Last night I ignored the urge to register SpaceShipThree.com , and today the .com .net .org and .whatnot is all taken.

Today I decided to redeem myself and find another good dn investment. After a bit of investigation I discovered the huge potential of Augmented Reality: Google Trends: augmented reality . The estimated AR market size in 2014 is $732,000,000 , especially in AR marketing.

I think adverts and billboards shown as augmented reality on mobiles will become simply huge, and so I decided to get a piece of the pie, all new .com registrations:

ar+
advert
adverts
billboard
billboards
registrar

There are still a lot of possibilities available, so I thought I'd share this so you can also get a piece of the action :santa:

to paraphrase Neil Armstrong, AR Studio is one small step for augmented reality, and one giant leap for developers

Apple Will Soon Join The AR Platform War That Facebook Just Started

At the moment augmented reality is still a clunky, phone-in-front-of-your-face experience, but today Facebook promised to transform that experience when it announced a new AR platform. And you can be sure that quite a few folks at Apple were watching with great interest the live stream of the F8 developers conference in San Jose, California, where the new platform was introduced with plenty of striking visual aids.

Onstage at the conference, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and some of his top aides energetically kicked off what is sure to be a new platform war—one that will soon be joined by Apple and plenty of other competitors.

“This space will get crowded though, and I expect both Apple and Google to also bring these functionalities to their camera apps and offer developers the chance to build AR experiences on their platforms as well,” Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin told Fast Company in an email.

Facebook made a strategic decision to be the first tech giant to launch an AR platform when the hardware and technology is still in its nascent stage. In Facebook’s version of AR, a user will hold their phone in front of their face and watch as all kinds of moving imagery and information is superimposed over the picture of the real world seen by the camera. Yep, kinda like Pokémon Go.

Facebook said it will provide developers with precise location, object recognition, and 3D effects tools they need to start building their own custom AR experiences. That could mean anything from AR games to a retailer placing a data card over a product in front of the camera.

AR is going to be huge in the near future. As tech giants like Apple and Snapchat are working for some time in this direction.
And now Facebook has also jumped in the AR race, so it will only get hot by time.

TIME TO REGISTER SOME AR DOMAINS!!!!!!!!!!!>:(>:(>:(:-P

If you want a bargain, the point is to get it before it's hot. AR has been in the news for years now. FB is the first large corp to actually launch something clearly stating it's AR (Apple and likely Google are next). If that is not an indicator of *potential* value then what is??

By no means great domains but think I might hold onto them in light of facebook and Apples intetest to push AR. Think they were only £1 each so no real big loss:

AR Mobile Games (.com)
AR Mobile Gaming (.com)

Get ready for augmented reality *everything*

The hottest thing in Silicon Valley is coming soon to ... well, pretty much everything.

Augmented reality is shaping up to be the next big digital gold rush, and consumers should ready themselves for the onslaught. Apple's doing it. So are Google and Snapchat. Oh, and as we saw recently, Facebook is as well.

AR has thoroughly trounced virtual reality in the battle for developers' hearts and minds, and with the amount of money behind the technology, it's only a matter of time before even the Luddites of the world are forced to grapple with it in some form or another.

So what is AR, and why is it so special? For starters, unlike virtual reality which walls the user off from the real world, augmented reality applies a digital and interactive layer to the real world. That layer can be dropped on basically anything, anywhere. And it soon will be.

Augmented reality requires a combination of hardware and software to function, and likely one day AR-specific products similar to Google Glass will be commonplace. At present, people mostly interact with augmented reality through their smartphones, but that will change as companies like Facebook move to develop AR glasses.
