Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I like the new landers!

Is it purposeful to have that top banner running on a for-sale page?

I'd either remove it or stick near the footer.

IMO.

@Atom.com I notice you've gradually removed the assessment text returned by the instant premium check telling you why a name was accepted or rejected. Is this because it's quite resource intensive or related to the DDoS attacks? Will you likely add it back at some point? I genuinely found it quite useful.

They probably did it because people (like me) use it to help them "retrain" their Ai model for accuracy. In fact I just posted about it, and then next day, they pulled it.

Now we can't assist them to retrain their Ai and they will not learn outside their own silo - which is never a good idea. Hiding details does not improve ones service, it just hides the reasons ones service is suboptimized.

Also, like you, I also used to learn from it as well - sometimes it gave use case ideas I hadn't thought of. So sellers lose too.

One of those rare lose-lose scenarios

Agreed, the timing is definitely suspicious straight after you posting that. Maybe it was the final nail in the coffin. Because, to be fair, I have been noticing more and more instant results returning blank results for a week or two now. The times it did return a response, the reasons for rejection seemed to be getting worse and worse, like the AI was being allocated less resources for its analysis, for example check my post here:

This hasn't been a problem in the past, but in the last few weeks the appraisal tool/instant checker is constantly reporting a lot of names as three words instead of two.

Also, @URL Stream, we were just talking a day or two ago about some of the bad rejection reasons we were seeing.

You can still access the Assessments after submitting the domains by clicking “Review & Publish All” on the dashboard. However, it’s best to obtain this information beforehand, while deciding whether to purchase a domain.

That said, the tool isn’t 100% reliable. Over the past month, I’ve had two domains classified as “Instant Premium Eligible” that were not actually assigned that status after being added to the platform.

I agree. Not many but I have encountered a few that this happened for.

I have also found some in their brandable hand reg suggestions that were not flagged Instant, that actually were when I checked.

Yeah, it's weird. The .now TLD is ineligible for instant and yet I've seen some get approved instantly too.

These are usually domains that have had a manual review and rejected in the past (this can also happen if the previous owner of the domain submitted them).

I complained to Atom about it in the past, and while they didn't offer a direct fix, if you submit these domains for manual review now, they should still be accepted instantly I've found.
