Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS

• No Listing fee
• No Logo design fee
• Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
• Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
• Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
• Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
• Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
• End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
• When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
• Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
• One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
• Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
• I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.

CONS

• Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
• Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
• I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
• After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Checked the domain i have with Atom on my mobile and the text is not aligned / justified according to the mobile page width and just this text extended to the right.

Tried desktop mode and refreshed and the 'Instant transfer.....' message is not found.

@Atom.com May be the instant transfer integration is not yet completed / needs fix

Its showing up in the Desktop mode. I just didnt change the orientation and was looking at the wrong place .

However the mobile view has issue showing it correctly and extending to the right on whatever browsers i have checked.

If someone tries to register it at Atom, it shows "Rapid Transfer" not quite the same as "Instant Transfer." They need to stick to just one.

Agreed, @Atom.com you should at least test adding some sort of visual to each "instant" transferrable name within the marketplace. So within the grid they stand out vs those that aren't "instant".

And I like Kings idea as well - where you add a filter for instant transfer names (so buyers can solely see those).

IMO if atom shows in search results fast transfer or instant transfer or rapid transfer , it is like giving preference to this domains over others , As if other domains could have transfer issue or transfer is slow .
This will cause a conflict more than any positive impact !

This. Too much segregation will backfire, those who feel oppressed will leave the platform (at least I will) instead of going all-in with Atom. This is not Afternic/GD where sellers just swallow the fact that only a subset of domains gets the misleading ”verified domain” badge. Only an outstanding market leader (in brand dominance) can afford to do stupid things like that.

More levels, more segmentation, more made up categories, more distraction. Its better to be master of one than Jack of all.

People still seem to be like magpies , lapping up everything shiny and new Atom releases a bit like it's Christmas morning when your 5 years old. None of this matters as the primary concern is Atom does not sell enough domains to justify 400,000 premium names it has.

Atom is more interested in building new things that fixing existing things. People here should know that by now.


Here is how it will go....Atom will keep building new things , people here will be test pilots, premium domain numbers will keep growing acceptance standards will stay the same, STRs will keep dropping.

GoDaddy claims the badge lifts STR. Obv we can't verify that claim. But if true it was not "stupid" to roll it out.

Similarly, if Atom's test is done properly, and it lifts STR, you can garner that STR lift by moving your names to Atom's registrar. If you instead decide not to and remove your Atom Premiums that would be unwise. You would forgo sales to do so. Therefore, to unequivocally state you'll leave prior to hearing the results of the test due to personal feelings is unwise.

However, it should be noted, if only Atom Premiums with the badge remain on platform, the STR lift may disappear or diminish. A badge like this may only work when some have it and others do not. Of course, it is possible even at 100% saturation, this badge provides confidence to buyers and therefore the lift remains. So retesting of this "badge" should continue to be tested over time as saturation hurdles are hit. For example, today, 25%, 37%, 50%, 67% etc.

Afternic's is different as they require one to pay 5% more commission to gain access to the badge. That changes the equation (since the STR lift from the badge may not cover the add'l requireed commission). Sellers who are upset are likely upset at being forced to pay extra. Further the fact Afternic is opaque about the exact STR lift of the verified badge (so none of us can actually do the calculations required to identify whether it is prudent to boost or not) upsets many.

However, if Atom's test shows an STR lift since they {currently} require no such extra commission it would be financially unwise to not use the badge. Further, Atom offers us the oppty to pay less commission as an Edge customer in combination with the "instant transfer" badge.

If they are clear about the STR lift (should there be any), this would be quite different to what Afternic is doing since we'd have the information to make an informed decision.
