Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

But if I decide that my head is spinning too much and I want off this ride my account will be dinged if I remove all of my premium domains today?
Actually if you look at specifics it seems you just lose some extra privileges if you remove all your Premium listings, but your account keeps working for standard listings. Looks like they updated the ToS to make it more vague and threatening at https://helpdesk.atom.com/en/articles/997701-domain-marketplace-terms-conditions-sellers - I recall reading there or somewhere on Atom a specific list of what features you would lose - can any one find or quote that?

Listing Removal

  • You may remove your premium domain at any time with a 30-day notice.
  • If the domain received an offer or inquiry within the past 30 days, the removal request will take effect only after the 30-day period.
  • Frequent or excessive removal of listings may limit your ability to submit domains in the future, as Atom invests upfront in branding and promotion for Premium Listings.

Could you imagine if you just discovered Atom as a seller today ... I would be like wtf is going on here .... Adiรณs .

The whole platform needs to be overhauled and simplified.

Having ToS on a helpdesk url that can be just changed on a whim, rather than the main website, also does not help instil confidence.

As for this new announcement.. In what world does a persons amount of listings have any bearing on the price and quality of individual domains?

--

Scenario one

excellentdomain.com / bronze seller / 8.5/10 domain rating / appraised at $60k / domain max price = $60,000

averagetopoordomain.com / platinum seller / 5/10 domain rating / appraised at $12k / domain max price = $60,000

--

Scenario two

excellentdomain.com / bronze seller / 8.5/10 domain rating / appraised at $60k / domain max price = $60,000

excellentdomain.com / platinum seller / 8.5/10 domain rating / appraised at $60k / domain max price = $300,000!

--

Of course, people with 500+ premium domains listed will be happy because they just went and immediately jacked up all their prices.

@Atom.com

The scrollbar on the right side should be removed. It doesn't make sense.

Also, try colored tabs.

This "upselling" should have a 'do not show me again' functionality (I'm not interested in Premium level) or it could be moved to the dashboard page. There's already the green Good Fit button right below it.

@Atom.com On mobile, I'm not able to select multiple domains for bulk action without the actions window for the first domain popping up.

@Atom.com Please make more clear when a Standard or Plus domain was submitted for an upgrade to Premium.

Suggestion: mouse-over the coin icon shows the last date it was submitted.

@Atom.com It appears Plus->Premium upgrades don't adhere to the account-wide LTO settings. It says "Custom", and I have to manually correct this to "Use Account Default" every time. Please fix, thanks.

Beta testing is so 2025.

They don't even need beta testers, just a good, comprehensive test suite. "Move fast and break things" only works when you're really small or really big, but these companies think that just because it "works" for the big software companies like Microsoft it works for them. They're so short-sighted that they don't realise 1) the big software companies can afford it because they have so few competitors to lose market share to, and 2) that most of your users are not going to report bugs, they're just going to stop using your software, especially the kind of end users that Atom desperately needs for its buyers and creatives, who are the entire reason that domainers use Atom in the first place.

โœ… FIXED (both)

Awesome, and the charm pricing update issue?

Not sure if this is related but I mentioned something similar here:

There's a small bug where updating multiple prices in bulk on premium submissions sets the commission percentage text to 30% no matter what price you enter:

Show attachment 281706

The amount you receive at the top is updated correctly ($3,749 in this case), but someone changing the price on a $50,000 domain might be concerned when suddenly it states a 30% commission instead of 20%, and refreshing the page has no effect.

It also changes the "Approved Selling Price" label to whatever value you updated the price to.

That never did get resolved, but it was using the older UI.

Another small issue to fix since this now seems to be turning into the official bug reporting ground :xf.smile:

Any communication I receive from Atom lately has a long line of HTML query string as the subject line "Re: [Image "image.png?expires=1767738600&signature=89123f4936985e9e" etc.
