Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

@Atom.com , I received offers on 3 of my names, six, seven, and ten days ago. I provided my floor price and have heard nothing at all on any of these offers since then. Six, seven, and ten days - and I get no updates, can't follow along watching if you're contacting the potential buyer.

Can you please provide more frequent status updates when we receive offers? Perhaps a timeline that allows us to follow along to show emails/calls, etc? So it's not just radio silence?

Thanks for raising this.

Every offer is actively worked. Our team follows up with buyers multiple times and across different channels (email, phone, WhatsApp, etc.) to keep conversations moving. We also aim to keep sellers informed of any material updates, though it sounds like that didnโ€™t happen in your case.

Weโ€™re working on adding more visibility within the Offer Center so sellers can better see the activity and progress around their offers. The goal is improved transparency without slowing down negotiations.

Buyer response times can be unpredictable, but that shouldnโ€™t translate into a lack of visibility for sellers. In the meantime, support can always check the latest status if an offer feels stuck.

Appreciate the feedback. This is very much aligned with where weโ€™re headed.

This is my absolute biggest concern with Atom. We basically have no control in the negotiation/sale of our names.

@Atom.com please consider providing Gold+ users ability to use chat to communicate directly with our customers.

@Atom.com will you please delete from Sedo all the names you cross-listed at Sedo?

It's not acceptable that you have left those dead listings there, blocking us from listing at Sedo. Or is that your intention?

You just need to give Sedo a simple, quick instruction to delete all names listed in your owm Sedo account, please, so we can all move ahead.

we are not allowed to cross list Atom premium names at Sedo (which is likely why they left them).

I do hope however @Atom.com will reconsider and allow us to self-list on Sedo at +10%

One of my biggest sales was a Plus listing and was only listed for a few months ($9200). Was a hand reg too :xf.smile:

I've said this before, it doesn't hurt your portfolio to have them listed on Atom. You get extra promotion and exposure from being on the site. If your domains aren't selling, then chances are they are no good and most likely won't sell anywhere else either.

You can list on Atom and Afternic, so obviously it is better than being on just Afternic.... Plus the paid advertising is only going to benefit you. Lots of domainers are expecting miracle results with poor portfolios, and you can't force a buyer to buy your sub-par names.

My sell-through-rate is currently 3.17% after 4+ years, it doesn't get much better than that.

Congrats on the sale! Can I ask what the domain you hand-regged was?

This UX is getting beyond ridiculous, more than half of the page is taken up by permanent banners and filter buttons before you can see your first domain. Does Atom actually employ any designers?

1. I don't need the option to switch back to the old UI every single time I log on, this is the one I started with and there's really not that much difference between the two anyway, both are heavily cluttered and both have the same permanent "switch back" banner. This should have been dismissable and then never appeared again, maybe hidden away in the settings if necessary.

2. Why is Atom forcing me to input a VAT number when I do not have a registered company for domaining, and most UK companies aren't VAT-registered at all therefore will never have a VAT number? Again, this should be dismissable.

UK? Why does it even say "EU-based"?

I like the switch back and forth option, because stuff is broken on the old view and I hate the new view - so need to switch back and forth often to enable stuff.

To me the new UI looks marginally more modern than the old one and even a little less cluttered, just not by much.

@Hashim ,
use uBlock's cosmetic filtering. That's what I use on obnoxiously designed websites.

I left after 6 months, gut feeling it's smoke and mirrors for 99% of investors. Anyone ever had a standard listing sale btw? I hardly doubt.
Yes but you would need to point your standard listings there as they won't get promotion like a premium will.

I have had 300~ domains on Atom for over 4 years and not had a single sale through Sedo and only a couple sales through Afternic. I don't think we are missing out on much tbh.
I get the most sales wherever the domains are pointed. If listed at Afternic and Sedo and not pointed there Afternic edges out Sedo for me as well but I still get an occasional Sedo sale.

Yeah, I get this one too, and probably a few more small bugs that I've gotten so used to I don't pay attention to them anymore, but constantly being bombarded with the same useless banners and having to scroll down to see my domains every time drives me up the wall.

I think they took my comments to heart and decided to take the whole site down instead.

As previously noted by other members, several essential features have yet to be integrated into the new Listing interface. Retiring the old version on January 1st would hinder my ability to complete daily tasks.

How VAT Is Handled on Atom.com (EU & UK)

Learn about VAT handling on Atom.com Domain Purchase Transactions

Atom avatar

Written by Atom
Updated today

Starting January 1, 2026, Atom is updating how Value Added Tax (VAT) is handled for domain purchase transactions involving EU and UK buyers. The goal of this update is to simplify VAT handling for sellers and remove unnecessary complexity, while ensuring VAT is applied consistently and correctly.

Whatโ€™s changing

When VAT is collected from a buyer, Atom will remit the VAT directly to the relevant tax authorities in the EU and UK. VAT will no longer be passed through to sellers for remittance.
Atom is registering with the appropriate EU and UK tax authorities so VAT can be handled centrally, transparently, and with minimal effort required from sellers.

Why weโ€™re making this change

To simplify VAT handling and reduce administrative complexity for sellers, Atom is centralizing VAT collection and remittance, in line with global marketplace practices.
  • Removes the need for sellers to track, file, or remit VAT on Atom transactions
  • Reduces administrative and compliance complexity
  • Ensures VAT is applied consistently across regions
  • Allows sellers to focus on selling, not VAT logistics
This update is designed to make VAT handling simpler and more predictable for sellers.

Whatโ€™s not changing

  • Sellers are not selling their domains to Atom. Atom remains a marketplace facilitating sales between buyers and sellers.
  • Sale prices, commissions, and payout calculations are unchanged.
  • Sellers remain responsible for their own taxes, such as income or corporate taxes.
  • VAT will continue to be clearly shown on buyer invoices where applicable.

Payment plans

This VAT handling applies to all future payments, including payment plans already in progress.
For any installment paid on or after January 1, Atom will handle VAT remittance for that payment, even if the payment plan started earlier.

Do sellers need to take any action?

No. Sellers do not need to register for EU or UK VAT as a result of this change.
Sellers should simply ensure their account details remain up to date and consult their own tax advisors regarding income or corporate taxes.
