Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

.
Thant true, just had a look at mine and it is the exact pattern as yours. I think the issue is the peak that came on December 5th. Its unusual in that Direct lander visits shot up just for that day also.

A lot of nice UI updates to the individual domain dashboard, but they hid the descriptions & keywords in the settings page. Too many clicks to get to it.

yea, a lot of extra clicks required now to get places. When you have hundreds (or thousands) of names, this becomes very cumbersome. I don't think the UI team is considering domainers who have large folios. They are silo'ing everything so you're not overwhelmed, but requiring clicks into each area is unfortunate for those with large folios.

Domain descriptions and root words shouldn't be hidden behind the Show Classification Options button tbh. It makes sense for the categories, tags & old search words etc because they no longer seem to have much of an effect. Descriptions & root words however still play a role and shouldn't have to take 10 clicks to find.

I had one sale last week. Owned the domain since 2011.

Solved. The Settings tab now shows every field directly, eliminating 1 additional click.

Thanks for listening @Atom.com

@Atom.com Can you have a look why some domains are not issued SSL certificates (this prevents them from resolving with HTTPS)

I have waited days after changing nameservers in some cases. Happens a lot with ccTLDs and ngTLDs.

Check this https://apps.pm/
on https://www.ssl.org/

This domain was listed on Atom on 17th November, and till the time of posting, it was not issued an SSL.

Check this : https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=apps.pm

At the time of posting, this domain was not issued an SSL, It was listed on Atom on 17th November.
I can confirm that for the example domain you mentioned.

Code:
$ openssl s_client -servername apps.pm -connect 52.20.84.62:443 < /dev/null | openssl x509 -text
depth=0 CN = sni-support-required-for-valid-ssl

@Atom.com When I update multiple fields in Domain Classification, each individual change immediately triggers an autosave that takes a few seconds and prevents continuing edits. This interrupts my workflow considerably, since I'm changing all fields and values. Please implement a solution that avoids blocking, ideally revert to just the Save Changes button or debounce autosaves.

And it's not just about blocking. I also want to decide for myself whether everything is correct before it's saved and immediately visible to everyone.

Someone made a liar out of me - they purchased a domain in the last hour of the sale.
My buyers waiting for me to increase the prices of all the domains.

@Atom.com the new UI tags are a nice touch:

However, I think the Tailwind classes you are using for them might be a bit computationally expensive. For example, try resizing the height of the description box. It causes huge lag updating the page layout.

How many domains do you own?
Too many to be successful. Enough for incapacitation.

This strange curve must have another reason than portfolio numbers.
Other members have described it: Black Week was absolutely silent. But in December the stats go haywire.
