Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Unstoppable Domains โ€” AI StorefrontUnstoppable Domains โ€” AI Storefront
Hi @Atom , thank you for your previous explanations.
However, I would like to raise an important concern regarding the way traffic metrics are currently structured.

At the moment, Discovery Views include impressions, clicks from search, and landing-page visits (after clicking search results or recommendations) - all mixed into one single number. Because of this, sellers cannot distinguish:
  • how many times a domain was only shown,
  • how many users actually clicked it in search results,
  • and how many of those visits reached the landing page.
At the same time, Direct Lander Visits only show type-in or legacy traffic, which creates further confusion because the name suggests something broader.

This system makes it extremely difficult to understand:
  • whether a domain is getting actual engagement,
  • whether the search engine is driving clicks,
  • how strong buyer interest really is,
  • or how to optimize pricing based on real performance.
For a marketplace of this scale, separating impressions / clicks / landing-page visits is essential.
Right now, everything is combined, and sellers cannot accurately interpret buyer behavior or the effectiveness of Atomโ€™s search engine.

Example:
Letโ€™s say that on a given day my domain receives 100 Platform Discovery Views.
I have no way of knowing whether this means:
  • 100 impressions in search and 0 clicks
(which would suggest I should improve the keywords or price...),
    or
  • 50 search impressions + 50 actual clicks to the landing page,
which would mean the domain is generating buyer interest.

Could you please confirm whether Atom plans to separate these metrics in the future and provide transparent data for impressions, search clicks, and landing-page visits?

As a follow-up to my previous message:

@Atom At this point it seems impossible to determine how many landing-page visits actually come from search clicks, because the metrics shown on the dashboard do not align with each other.
Here are two opposite examples from recently added domains, where the data should be the easiest to interpret:

Example 1:
  • Lander Visits: 12
  • Direct Lander Visits: 0
  • Platform Discovery Views: 2
If there are 12 landing-page visits, but only 2 discovery views and 0 direct visits, then the remaining 10 visits have no identifiable source in any metric that the dashboard provides.

Example 2:
  • Lander Visits: 3
  • Direct Lander Visits: 5
  • Platform Discovery Views: 92
Here, โ€œDirect Lander Visitsโ€ are higher than the total number of landing-page visits, which mathematically shouldnโ€™t be possible if Direct is supposed to be a subset of Lander Visits.

Because of these inconsistencies, itโ€™s unclear how sellers are expected to interpret these numbers or estimate how many visitors actually reached the landing page from search results - unfortunately at this point the data feels for me more like reading tea leaves than meaningful analytics...

@Atom - I believe our shared goal is to increase sales and accurate analytics would help sellers optimize pricing, keywords and landing-page performance to achieve that. Unfortunately, without consistent and reliable data, itโ€™s extremely difficult for us to make informed adjustments. I would be very grateful if your team could review these inconsistencies and consider providing sellers with more detailed and transparent data :xf.smile:

For those who are EU-based and VAT-registered, Atom has just improved their handling of VAT. The VAT amount that has been collected from the buyer now clearly shows on the invoice in the Transfer Center. Also, in the payout settings, it is possible to enter your VAT registration number so it appears on invoices,

Thank you to Atom for listening to us who requested this feature.

@Atom - your google listings need a rethink imo.

Here is a name that shows the LTO price in the search results (rather than showing the BIN which is 10x higher). I think it misleads to show solely the LTO price. Either you need to show no price, the BIN price, or "payment plan" or something similar next to an LTO price.

On another note. Is "get a free logo" really the optimal call to action? Isn't their a better CTA here than a free logo?

Buy this premium domain name and enhance your SEO results.
Buy this premium domain name and elevate brand credibility.
Buy this premium domain name and increase customer trust.
Buy this premium domain name and boost customer recall.

And so on...

Agreed.

Mentioned about the logo back in October, seems it's quite common.

Today I checked one of my domains and saw this result from July 2023..the detailed info is good actually and surprised to see 202 repeated visits for that domain..

@Atom.com My simple question is all these 202 visitors are separate visitors from different countries or this involve same visitor repetition in different dates..for example one visitor visiting on today and he visits again after 3 days..so will it count as visitor 1 and visitor 2 in different dates or it will be counted only one time as a single unique visitor

It's counted as one, single visitor. Here is some example from one of my domain (one visitor + different dates of visits):

For contrast this is the Brandbucket traffic / views system. Not as inclusive as Atom , maybe this comes later but it seems plenty of eyes are on them.

@Atom.com In Chrome/Android on mobile phone, the domain names are not visible in the overview on https://www.atom.com/dashboard/seller/ai-ranked-domains

Although there's an option in the Chrome browser to switch to Desktop site-view, it's pretty cumbersome each time. Please make it work natively. Thanks a lot.

PS, it looks great on PC.
I see that this has now been fixed on mobile. The domain names are visible. Thanks.

Domain dashboard has got some update.

But are the specific possible uses field always getting reset? I remember setting specific possible uses everytime but after few days it seems to get reset to show the same as broad possible uses.

If you edit the specific possible uses then they will get properly saved the first time. However, if you ever come back and modify any settings on the domain again and hit submit, there is a bug that will overwrite them with the broad possible uses instead. This means that after every edit, the specific uses need to be modified again.

But tbh, I'm not sure these are having much of an impact in search positions any more since Atom brought out AI keywords.

@Atom.com - you recently made a change that makes managing names more cumbersome.

Within the "actions" area, you can choose to "change lander theme". This used to click through directly to a checkbox allowing us to change the lander theme.
However now you've changed it to drop onto an overview page, where you are unable to change the lander theme. An add'l click is required to go to the appropriate settings area to change the lander theme.

Since those who click "change lander theme" obv want to change the theme, this extra step is unnecessary.

As your site grows, please ensure you keep the clicks to a minimum, where possible. It is already cumbersome enough to manage names so anything you can do to make it easier is sincerely appreciated.

Let me first say I love the new interface. Sure takes some getting used to where things are, but it is so informative and complete. Great job!

I just encountered what appears to be a bug @Atom.com in the new interface.

If a name has more than the allowed 3 allowed uses, even after the number is reduced to 3, it still seems to give the same error and not update the list on resubmit.

Also, if 3 are the allowed number, why does the system automatically generate more, and then say there is an error? I had not added the uses.

Thanks,

Bob

@Atom.com
Can you explain why this big drop for Platform Discovery Views from 6088 to 2300 in two days !! Due to what ?
Why didn't complete going up or at least keep moving horizontally ?
