Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Hi everyone, since there were several questions about Discovery Views, Direct Lander visits, and stats in general, hereโ€™s a clearer breakdown that may help:

1. Discovery Views

Discovery Views reflect traffic influenced directly by Atomโ€™s search and recommendation engine. This includes:

โ€ข when your domain appears in search results
โ€ข when itโ€™s shown in AI-driven recommendations
โ€ข when itโ€™s displayed across other discovery surfaces on the platform

We only count impressions when the domain is actually in view for the buyer. If the name appears far down the results and the buyer never scrolls to that section, those impressions are typically not counted. Discovery Views also include landing page visits that occur after the user visits the landing page after clicking search results or recommendations.

2. Direct Lander Visits

Direct lander visits occur when someone types the domain directly into their browser and lands on the for-sale page. These visitors may or may not be genuine buyers. This category often includes:

โ€ข misdirected or legacy type-in traffic
โ€ข visits from users who knew the developed domain previously (before it expired)
โ€ข general curiosity or non-commercial browsing

There is usually no correlation between Direct Lander traffic and Discovery Views since these typically represent different visitor groups.

3. Automated or Non-Buyer Traffic

While we have strong systems in place to block bots and automated traffic, no platform can filter out 100%. Discovery Views as well as Direct lander visits may still include some of this activity, and we continually refine the filters to keep numbers as accurate as possible.

4. Repeat Lander Views

Repeat views represent cases where the same buyer returns to the landing page multiple times.

Previously, we counted rapid, back-to-back reloads as separate views. We recently added a time-gap threshold so we only count meaningful repeat visits. This is why many sellers noticed a reduction - the metric is now more accurate.

5. Occasional Gaps or Under-Reporting

Our top priority is delivering an extremely fast search and discovery experience for buyers. On days when the system experiences unusually high load, we may deprioritize certain analytics processes to keep the platform fast.

When that happens, some stats may be under-recorded, or certain views may not be captured perfectly. This is intentional - speed and buyer experience come first, and analytics accuracy is second.

6. Our Philosophy on Stats

Contrary to some comments, our goal is not to inflate view counts. Itโ€™s actually the opposite. We want these metrics to reflect real buyer behavior so they are genuinely useful and actionable.

That said, views alone rarely correlate with sales. More meaningful indicators include:

โ€ข repeat landing page visits
โ€ข number of buyers tracking a domainโ€™s price
โ€ข the keywords where your domain ranks highly in search

This last point is the reason we recently rolled out the Search Visibility dashboard that gives you clear, structured insights into which keywords are driving visibility for your domains across the Marketplace. Our goal is to surface data that helps you understand buyer intent rather than just raw traffic counts.

Hopefully this helps clarify things.

Thanks, that's very helpful and clears it up nicely.

Some of this would be really beneficial on your official help pages imo to help others that are confused:

I see our chart screenshots on the previous page as a usual metric then for those who are undecided about remaining on Atom, or for newcomers wondering if they should sign up more names for premium. For example:

@Future Sensors has some great names that would stand out on their own (i.e. they are already getting a lot of direct views even if they weren't already on Atom). If your direct views are almost as high as Atom's discovery views then you might not be gaining so much, especially with the high commissions.

Whereas if your chart looks more like mine or @URL Stream with a lot less direct views, but a lot of Atom exposure then you're probably benefiting a lot more from the platform, and the high commission might be well worth it.

As for repeat visitors, would it be possible to implement a more viewer-friendly representation than this day, year, day, year, day, year etc format?

Can you share what that time-gap amount is?

After ages of trying to convince the tech team that my stats werenโ€™t workingโ€”despite their insistence that my names just werenโ€™t getting viewsโ€”they finally fixed my accountโ€ฆ only for it to break again a few days later.
@Atom.com, how can I get to the bottom of this?

Thanks for the feedback. Youโ€™re right - the old format wasnโ€™t very user-friendly. Based on this suggestion, weโ€™ve now improved the repeat-visitor section so itโ€™s much clearer and easier to read.

As of this morning I cannot change my Atom BINs to Make Offer. When I try to switch (either by deleting the BIN or setting the BIN Price to zero), and I've tried on multiple domains, I get the following error:

Obviously this is a new update to make sure the BIN Price field is populated, but it's gone way rogue and is locking me out of setting a Make Offer without a greater-than zero BIN price.

Wow that was quick, or a coincidence, but in any case kudos to the team!

My names are not uploading properly. Atom CS told me to wait up to 24 hours due to long queues

You are not alone..๐Ÿฅณ mine is more than 2 hours for one domain..seems they went for Lunch during the board meeting ๐Ÿ˜Œ
Or else they're thinking of how they can avoid paying you. They looked at one of mine for hours, then regged it in a country code TLD.

Thanks for the explanation @Atom.com. I'm seeing major fluctuations in the visitor/view numbers, possibly caused by the recent algorithm changes. No problem. I will continue monitoring the data more closely to see if a consistent pattern will emerge.

If it adds analytical value, you might integrate any of the other aggregated stats onto the current plot as well (domain visibility, number of total domains, differentiation by price tier, by sector, number of regged TLDs, appraisal, relative ranking on marketplace, time on lander, Premium/Standard/Plus, etc etc).

Further, on large screens, please reduce the size of the x-axis. Thanks.

@Atom.com In Chrome/Android on mobile phone, the domain names are not visible in the overview on https://www.atom.com/dashboard/seller/ai-ranked-domains

Although there's an option in the Chrome browser to switch to Desktop site-view, it's pretty cumbersome each time. Please make it work natively. Thanks a lot.

PS, it looks great on PC.

Tilting the phone helps for time being and easier than switching to desktop mode, until they find a solution for it.

Thanks, I know, but don't want to. My phone is locked in the upright mode.
